Solmannen
An ancient sun deity walks the open plains. Solmannen adds a single towering horror mob to Minecraft: an eleven-foot, emaciated figure with a sun for a head. He is not hostile at first. He watches. He studies you. And if you are patient, or unlucky, you will see what he does when he stops watching.
What he does
- Curious, not aggressive. Get close and he freezes to study you, head tracking your every move, before losing interest and wandering off. He never strikes first. Hit him, and that changes.
- Rituals. By day he turns to face the real position of the sun in the sky and raises his arms in worship. By night he bows in mourning, and light bleeds out of his chest from under his ribs.
- The feast. A kill is a meal. He bends to the ground and devours what he has taken, and it makes him stronger.
- The gaze. Stare into his face too long and something stares back. Wear a golden helmet or a carved pumpkin to hide from it.
- He eats his followers. Villagers are not safe near him, though when he strikes is never predictable.
- Fully animated with GeckoLib, with custom sounds and unsettling idle behavior that never quite repeats.
Summoning him
Solmannen does not spawn on his own. He must be called, and he permits no artificial light in his ritual.
- Place a composter, then set a lightning rod on top of it.
- Sacrifice living things within six blocks by your own hand. Each kill packs the composter, calls a bolt down onto the rod, and the altar burns brighter and thrums louder.
- On the fourth sacrifice the rod erupts, and Solmannen claws his way up out of the composter.
A spawn egg is also available in creative mode.
Requirements
