Overview
StraySkins is a skin management mod designed for offline account environments. It lets offline account players have and switch their own skins and capes just like premium account players, and display them correctly to themselves and other players on multiplayer servers.
How to use
-
Put your skin/cape images into the mod folders:
-
Client:
Client instance/strayskins/skin/(skin),Client instance/strayskins/cape/(cape), auto-uploaded on join -
Server:
server directory/strayskins/skin/(skin),server directory/strayskins/cape/(cape), visible to all players -
The file name must match your in-game name, e.g.
Steve.png(Chinese and other characters supported)
-
-
Run
/strayskinsin game to automatically load your own skin and cape. -
If your launcher already has a skin set, it will take effect automatically on join. It is recommended to use the HMCL launcher to set your appearance and launch.

Auto-load on join
When a new player joins for the first time, the mod automatically loads the skin/cape file matching the player name; if there is no matching file, a random appearance is loaded instead. Players who have set an appearance will have it automatically restored from their player folder when they rejoin the server; if the appearance files are missing, a hint will be shown in chat.
Supports single-player, LAN, and dedicated servers.
Folder Structure
The strayskins/ folder:
-
skin/: Skin library. All available skin files go here; skin commands (skin <file>, random skin) pick files from it.skin/<player name>.pngis your own skin. -
cape/: Cape library.cape/<player name>.pngis your own cape. -
player/: Player appearance saves. One sub-folder per player (player/<player name>/), holdingskin.png,cape.pngand the save file<player name>.json; appearances are restored from this folder on rejoin. -

Notes
-
Must be installed on both client and server (with matching versions) for full skin display.
-
Skin files: multiple of 64 and 1:1 square (e.g. 64x64, 128x128, 256x256...), use PNG images with a transparent background.
-
Cape files: multiple of 64x32, 2:1 landscape (e.g. 64x32, 128x64...).
-
Server skin/cape files should not exceed 4MB; it is recommended that client files do not exceed 1.4MB.
-
Skins in the server folder are visible to all players; the client folder is for your own use only (uploaded on join).
-
Fake player features work fully when used with the FakePlayer mod; without it, normal skin features are unaffected.
