[TaCZ] First Aid New Compat
Compatibility between TaCZ (Timeless and Classics Zero) and First Aid New for Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge.
Functionality
- Determines the damaged body part from the bullet trajectory and eight body-part hit volumes.
- Applies armor protection through the corresponding equipment slot.
- Keeps normal and armor-piercing damage on the same body part when a hit causes unconsciousness.
- Transfers excess damage from destroyed parts, with feet transferring damage to the corresponding leg before the torso.
- Accounts for player rotation, crawling, and First Aid New’s collapse animation.
- Detects hits on downed body parts outside Minecraft’s general entity bounding box.
- Distributes explosion damage using the explosion center.
- Supports Defender and Medic bonuses from LRarmor when installed.
- Displays body-part hit volumes with F3+B.
First Aid New remains responsible for pain, unconsciousness, rescue, death, and health synchronization.
Requirements
Tested versions:
| Component | Version |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 |
| Forge | 47.3.32 |
| TaCZ | 1.1.8-hotfix |
| First Aid New | 1.3.1-hotfix20181682026+forge1.20.1 |
The required First Aid New file is available here. Its published version label differs slightly from its internal version.
Optional integration: LRarmor 0.1.4.4, with GeckoLib 4.8.4.
Installation
Place the mod JAR in the mods folder on both the client and server, alongside TaCZ and First Aid New.
Do not install the original First Aid or TaCZ First Aid Compat with this mod. Remove older versions of this compatibility mod before updating.
Implementation
The mod uses Mixins to integrate body-part intersection into TaCZ’s entity hit detection and replace the damage distribution algorithm used by First Aid New.
Bullet trajectories are converted to player-local coordinates and intersected with body-part volumes. The selected part is retained for both damage components of the hit.
The F3+B overlay uses the same geometry as hit detection. Minecraft’s white entity bounding box remains unchanged.
Limitations
Body-part volumes are an approximation. They do not follow individual limb animations or client render interpolation. Historical latency compensation is not implemented for these volumes.
Other dependency versions and additional poses, such as elytra flight, are not verified.
