This mod adds Tarot Card "Arcana Packs" that, when opened, let players pick a card or two from the 3 or 5 that appear:
- Arcana Packs (regular) let a player pick 1 of 3 cards,
- Jumbo Arcana Packs from 1 of 5,
- and Mega Arcana Packs 2 of 5 cards.
These may be given out by a server host or, naturally - the only way to obtain them in Survival - by trading with a Wandering Trader who occasionally sells them 2 packs at a time.
- Arcana Packs cost 5 Emeralds,
- Jumbo Arcana Packs cost 7,
- and Mega Arcanas cost 10.
You can also "sell" a Tarot Card you already own for 3 Emeralds by placing it in a 2x2 or 3x3 crafting GUI input (and Emeralds will be locked from being uncrafted in Twilight Forests' Uncrafting Table to prevent an exploit where you can otherwise potentially get any Tarot Card for 3 Emeralds so don't try it), giving at least some use to all the extras you get, especially if playing on a solo world.
If your booster pack contains a Soul Card, however, nab it instead! Right-clicking it will replace itself with a VERY rare item! Just like Balatro's Tarot Card booster packs, Soul Cards have a 0.3% chance to show up in place of another card.
Right-clicking a Booster Pack replaces the entire stack with a standard piece of paper, the booster pack's "wrapping." Booster Packs of any of the 3 types are not supposed to stack unless using cheats or commands, and a stack of booster packs right-clicked will still only yield 1 pack opening because of the method used to display the GUI and turn the itemstack into a single stack of paper.
To make it even more difficult and/or "balanced" to get a whole set of Tarot Cards this way you may also choose to enable the gamerule tarotShowman which makes each Arcana Pack act like the Showman Joker from Balatro is in play; that is to say, duplicate tarot cards may appear multiple times in a single opened pack.
Finally, the Wandering Trader may also sell a single Music Disc with Jimbo's handsomely-devilish mug on it as an Easter Egg of sorts for 4 Emeralds; playing it gives a nice Balatro remix made by Lucas Pucas on YouTube (check it out here) while swinging it in any form or fashion causes him to directly drop some of his beloved dialogue straight from the game to you as if he used /msg!
TECHNICAL STUFF:
The mod works by storing all the registry IDs of each tarot card as item variables with the appropriate NBT datatags within the world itself upon loading it for the very first time, building a library of all possible cards to pull from in the process. When cards for a booster pack are pulled from this library, it will include any of those 22 cards, but not the Soul Card; the check for whether a Soul Card appears or not is always performed after the cards have been chosen for the pack, and will overwrite the card in the chosen space. All the rest of the cards disappear from the GUI after the appropriate amount of cards have been taken from each slot (1 for normal and Jumbo packs, 2 from Mega packs), while pressing [Esc] while still in the GUI counts as "skipping" the pack (as one can normally do in Balatro). The "Jimbo Music Disc" giving "+4 Mult" "While in main-hand" basically translates to the Music Disc dealing 4 (extra) points (♥♥) of unblockable damage to anything hit by it.
This mod, like my other 2 mods, was made in MCreator.
