The DB — Psychological Horror Mod
The DB is a psychological horror mod that gradually turns Minecraft into an evolving horror experience. Unlike simple and cheap jumpscares, it relies on paranoia, environmental storytelling, and fourth-wall-breaking mechanics.

- Fourth-wall breaking mechanics: Corrupted game behavior, visual distortions, and events that unfold through chat.
- Story-driven survival horror: A one-time narrative experience specifically developed for singleplayer.

The mod has been rewritten from scratch and is now developed natively and exclusively for Forge 1.20.1. Support for 1.16.5 has ended; all event triggers, audio, and visual effects are built specifically for 1.20.1.

- Render Distance: 4+ chunks
- Keep chat open
- Brightness: 100%
- If using Sodium/Embeddium: Entity Render Distance at 500%

Is multiplayer supported?
Currently untested and contains serious bugs. Singleplayer is recommended.
Is it safe?
Yes, all visual/system effects are client-side and completely harmless, purely atmospheric.
What's the lore?
WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILER:
Alternative Lore
In May 2021, a group of friends played together on a private survival server. It began with small, easily dismissed occurrences—torches breaking without cause, quiet silhouettes at the edge of caves, and subtle distortions in the world.
The night the server was archived, everyone logged off—except one player. A critical data error trapped his session inside the world files as the server shut down. His player data was never cleared from the memory.
He is not a mythical entity or a random monster. He is DB: Data Left Behind.
Trapped in the digital void of an abandoned world, he reaches out through corrupted chat logs, environmental anomalies, and system-level glitches—waiting for the friends who forgot him to finally return.

ORIGIN STORY OF THE DB
In 2021, our group of over 10 friends played together on a private survival server. After some time, two players decided to split from the main group to grind independently.
Shortly after the division, a friend from the other team reported their torches mysteriously disappearing. At first, nobody believed them—until the exact same thing started happening to everyone else. Soon after, someone spotted a blue entity standing motionless at the end of a cave tunnel. Others reported similar sightings, and one friend claimed to see a pitch-black figure watching from the distance.
Not long after, the server world inexplicably vanished without a trace. Despite returning on the exact same seed (-259732728907866064) to investigate, we never found an explanation.
I created The DB to immortalize that exact experience. Whether it was a series of bizarre glitches, an elaborate prank, or something else entirely, this mod is built to replicate the paranoia and dread we felt during those weeks.
Does this description contain every detail and event of the mod?
Not even close. This page barely scratches 5% of the anomalies.
