The basics
You need to type the /trilife init command after creating a new world. This requires the player to have op.
This mod adds a life-system. Every player gets three lives at the start. Upon death, they loose one. When a player reaches zero lives, they respawn in specator mode.
Player ghosts
For the first hour after a player logged out, a ghost will appear in the player's log-out position. This ghost will take the form of a stationary Husk with the player's name tag. Upon death, this ghost will drop all items that the logging out player had. Once the player joins the server again, they are respawned at their spawn point without their items and one life less.
Small balance tweaks
- Upon regular death, you will keep a third of your initial inventory
- It's no longer possible to see armour and weapons carried by invisible players. In return, upon attacking another player, invisible players will immediately become visible.
New items
Heart Cake
Crafted like a regular cake, but with the Ender Dragon egg replacing the regular egg, thus making this item unique and only obtainable once. The Heart Cake grants the player who eats it one extra life and a special advancement.
Soul Heart
Right-clicking with the Soul Heart in hand opens a menu in which you can pick any currently online player that has lost all three lives. This causes you to loose one life, but the selected player will gain one life and respawn at your current location. It is crafted with a Nether Star, surrounded by Soul Soil on the edges and Soul Sand in the corners.
Ender Orb
The Ender Orb functions similar to an Ender Pearl. It can't be stacked, but instead has a durability of 32. This item also covers 33% less distance than a regular Ender Pearl. To craft it, arrange five Ender Pearls and four Chorus Fruits in a grid-like pattern.
Dark Orb
You can throw the Dark Orb similar to a Wind Charge. Upon hitting a block or an entity, all entities within three blocks of the impact point get Darkness and Blindness for ten seconds. The Dark Orb can only be found in Ancient Citie's Ice Boxes.
Knives
Knives are a new type of weapon. They are a lot weaker, but a lot faster than regular swords and come in three variants: Iron, Diamond, Netherite. To craft one of them, simply place its base material above a stick.
Totems
Empty Totem
Tilife entirely reforms the Totem of Undying. In fact, the regular Totem of Undying is dysfuntional and can no longer drop. Instead, Evokers drop Empty Totems. Empty Totems themselves don't do anything, but they can be crafted into all other types of totems.
In the following segments, we will discuss how to craft these totems and what effects they have when being popped and how to craft them. Keep in mind though, all totems except Heart, Vault and Loot give the wearer five seconds of immortality on pop.
Chorus Totem
The Chorus Totem sends the wearer 40 meters into a random direction from the place where the totem got popped. To craft it, simply surround an Empty Totem by four Chorus Fruits.
Sneaky Totem
The wearer becomes invisible and gets a speed 2 effect for ten seconds. It can be crafted by just putting a Fermented Spider Eye, a Golden Carrot, one piece of Sugar, an Empty Totem and five Turtle Scutes into a Crafting Table.
Beacon Totem (sometimes jokingly called 'Bacon Totem')
Grants the wearer all effects that a Beacon gives on level 2 for ten seconds, except Resistance which instead is added on level 6 for the five seconds of immortality. It is crafted similar to a Beacon, with an Empty Totem replacing the Nether Star and Diamonds replacing the Obsidian.
Windburst Totem
Sends all surrounding entities of the wearer into the air. To make one, surround an Empty Totem with four Wind Charges.
Linked Totem
Right-clicking a Linked Totem binds it to your life. Now, when another player pops it you will loose a life, whilst that player simultaniously gains ten absorbtion hearts which last five minutes and Regeneration 2 for 30 seconds. To craft it, surround an Empty Totem with Obsidian on the edges and Ender Eyes in the corners.
Immortal Totem
This totem simply extends the five seconds of immortality by an extra five seconds. To craft it, place a Turtle Helmet left of an Empty Totem, a Diamond on the right and a piece of sugar above and below each.
Regeneration Totem
Grants ten seconds of Regeneration 3. It is made by surrounding an Empty Totem with four Glistering Melon Slices.
Health Totem
This totem heals the wearer back to ten hearts immediately after being popped. One can craft it by surrounding a Regeneration Totem with an additional four Glistering Melon Slices and a Totinium Ingot in each of the corners.
Heart Totem
Unlike most other totems, this one does not prevent death directly. Instead, upon death whilst holding the Heart Totem, you will retain the life that you should have lost otherwise. It's rather expensive, requiring a Regeneration Totem, surrounded by Golden Apples on the edges, Netherite Ingots in the top-left and bottom-right corners as well as Totinium Blocks in the top-right and bottom-left corners.
Armour Totem
Upon popping, the durability of the wearer's armour will be entirely restored back to maximum. It can be crafted by surrounding an Empty Totem with four Bottles o' Enchanting.
Backup Totem
The Backup Totem precisely combines the powers of the Armour Totem and the Health Totem. To craft it, combine a Health Totem and an Armour Totem with a Totinium Block.
Vault Totem
Similar to the Heart Totem, this Totem does not prevent actual death. Unlike the Heart Totem, you will also loose your life. The Vault Totem causes all of your items to be stored in an indestructible, entirely safe vault at the position where you died. When you right-click this vault, all of your items will be restored into the exact inventory slot that they were in before dying. You can make one by surrounding an Empty Totem with four Trial Keys.
Loot Totem
The Loot Totem is rather simple. When dying with the loot totem, you retain your entire inventory. It can be made simply by surrounding a Vault Totem with four Totinium Ingots.
Totinium
Totinium is a new material used for upgrading Totems to a second level. A Totinium Nugget has an 18% chance to be dropped from a Pillager and a 45% percent chance to be dropped from a Vindicator. From there on out, you can craft it into ingots and blocks, similar to how you would with gold or iron.
