True Window is a high-performance utility mod designed to improve window management in Minecraft. It provides a proper borderless mode, eliminates stuttering when you sharing screens (like Discord, etc.), and ensures the game is detected by any recording programs (especially older ones). The mod also allows you to set a custom title and icon for the game in the fastest and most modern way.
Key Features
- Proper Borderless Fullscreen: No more awkward gaps or taskbar overlaps. A clean, immersive edge-to-edge experience.
- Smart Window Title: Change "Minecraft x.x.x" to whatever you want. Includes a "Title Guard" that keeps your custom name active even if other mods try to change it. Best for custom client.
- Content Creator Friendly: The custom title system is specifically designed to work with screen recording programs, ensuring your game is always detected correctly and will be recorded. (Important for versions 1.7.10 - 1.12.2 or some recording programs)
- Replace Icons: Support for two icon modes (Standard and HQ). Use a .png image as a window icon or an .ico image for an even higher-quality icon after the game has loaded. The most modern method. The best choice for custom clients.
- Smart Maximize: An optional feature that automatically maximizes the window when launching and exiting borderless mode ensures you'll never see an awkwardly small game window again. (Can be disabled)
Configuration
All settings can be found in
(1.7.10 - 1.12.2 Forge)
config/truewindow/truewindow.cfg
(1.13+ Forge/NeoForge)
config/truewindow/truewindow.toml
(1.16+ Fabric)
config/truewindow/truewindow.json5
To use custom icons, place your icon.png and icon.ico files in the
config/truewindow/ folder
For a high-quality .ico image, use a converter that can save most sizes in the finished file (256, 128, 64, 32, 16)
Why True Window?
True Window is a universal solution for your game window. You get everything you need: correct borderless windows, custom title bars, and HD icons. It all works in a more modern way than other similar mods and includes additional fixes. And I will actively support even older versions of the game. Don't forget that you can freely include the compiled mod (.jar) in any mod builds. No need to ask permission!
Compatibility
The mod will run alongside any other mods, even if they perform similar functions.
However... it's best to follow these recommendations to avoid strange game behavior:
- itlt: If you have this mod installed, be sure to disable the icon and title settings in its config. Otherwise, the mods will compete for window control.
- custom window title: True Window performs the same functions. It's recommended to choose one or the other. Otherwise, there will be competition for the game's title and icon.
- Borderless Mods: You'd better avoid using them together with true window to avoid window conflicts of the game window.
FAQ
Q: Do I need to install this mod on the server? A: No, this is a purely client mod.
Q: What do you mean by fixing the window detection by recording programs? A: Some screen recording programs only detect the game if the window is titled "Minecraft." This mod uses techniques to ensure that any program will correctly detect and record a game with your custom title. This is especially important for versions 1.7.10 - 1.12.2, where even the most modern programs could lose track of the game.
Q: How can I get an .ico image from my .png? A: Use an online .png to .ico converter. But choose a site that will convert most file sizes into a single file (256, 128, 64, 32, 16).
Q: The mod always maximizes the window on startup. Can I disable this? A: Yes. Change alwaysMaximized to false in the config if you want the game to keep its normal window size. Important: If the fullscreen: parameter in options.txt is set to true, the setting will be ignored when the game starts.
Q: Can I include this mod in my modpack? A: Yes, absolutely. This mod is built to improve the player experience.
