Uprium: Advanced GeckoLib Asset Synchronization Bridge
Uprium is a high-performance Fabric middleware designed to resolve dependency conflicts and accessibility barriers in modded Minecraft environments. Its primary function is to enable the visualization of GeckoLib-based models and animations on clients that do not have the GeckoLib mod installed, including standard Vanilla clients.
Core Technical Architecture
Unified Asset Synchronization
Uprium implements a robust networking layer that utilizes GZIP compression and packet chunking to synchronize large model payloads. This architecture bypasses the standard 1MB packet limitation, ensuring that complex geometry and high-fidelity animations are delivered reliably across the network without causing client timeouts.
Dual-Path Rendering Pipeline
The mod employs a sophisticated rendering logic that adapts based on the client's capabilities:
- Skeletal Rendering Engine: For clients with the Uprium mod installed, a custom engine performs skeletal interpolation and bone-space transformations. This provides fluid, 60FPS animations using raw GeckoLib data without requiring the full GeckoLib runtime dependency.
- Display Entity Fallbacks: For Vanilla clients, Uprium automatically generates a server-side resource pack. It utilizes Item Display Entities combined with CustomModelData to render 3D meshes with built-in vanilla interpolation, ensuring visual consistency for all players.
Automated Asset Extraction
Uprium features a deep scanning utility that identifies GeckoLib assets (models and animations) within the server's mod directory. It extracts and prepares these assets for distribution automatically, requiring no manual configuration from the server administrator.
Hosting and Performance Optimization
Designed specifically for resource-constrained environments such as Aternos and other shared hosting platforms, Uprium includes:
- Background CDN Integration: Automated resource pack uploads to designated CDNs bypass port-forwarding and bandwidth limitations typical of free hosting services.
- Volatile Cache Management: To prevent Out-Of-Memory (OOM) errors, Uprium implements strict memory caps and lifecycle-based cache flushing, ensuring minimal RAM overhead.
Deployment Information
- Platform: Fabric
- Version Support: Minecraft 1.21.9 through 1.21.11
- Infrastructure Requirements: Fabric API (Server-side)
Uprium serves as a critical infrastructure component for server owners who prioritize player accessibility without sacrificing the visual depth provided by modern animation frameworks.
