Huge update today!
New Attacks:
- Gunpowder Throw
- Produces particles on the ground.
- If a player runs over it with enough speed, it will create a chain explosion.
- Whey protein powder
- this is used as an anti-cheese for various aspects.
- Will throw at mobs that scare wandering traders, to prevent the murderer from running at very high speeds
- WIll also throw at happy ghasts, which weighs them down (so flying on the happy ghast isn't a viable way to kill him anymore)
- Resonance
- Create a loud ringing sound, and will damage the players a set amount regardless of armor/enchantments.
- This only applies for the harder version of the boss.
- Knockback
- If there are enough players surrounding him, he will create a shockwave that causes all nearby players to launch away.
- Fixed tower related destruction.
- It probably won't deconstruct whole houses now
- He should also be able to deal with a variety of new towers
- BIG JUMP
- Under certain conditions, he will jump really high into the sky and attempt to land on the player.
He is now capable of piercing through a certain amount of armor, meaning armor will ultimately matter less during the fight. Enchantments like "protection" and similar will no longer do anything.
Damage taken has been curved: Even if you deal 1000 hearts of damage, he will now only take 30 hearts of damage max, meaning OP gear no longer is capable of one-hit kills or similar. With this in mind, if the hitbox happens to die (which it shouldn't) a new one is now summoned as a fail-safe.
General changes to the wandering murderer:
Spawning has been completely rewritten so that I can understand it better.
- In theory it is now more optimized
- He can no longer appear immediately after vanishing. This issue caused things like double "outro" music, or spawning for 3 seconds before vanishing again.
- Instead of spawning based on "lowest encounters", he will spawn based on various different variables: amount of times encountered, if the player is afk, if the player is isolated, and if the player is outdoors (not underground).
- He can now spawn via fishing
- If you kill a wandering trader while he's active, he will spawn.
- He can either jump from the sky, or appear behind you. Appearing behind you means he'll attack the second you look at him.
Cutouts!
- Rarely when he's active, a cutout will spawn. This will play the music for a few seconds before going away.
- That's about it tbh
More anti-cheese
- If he considers himself "stuck", he will either jump really high or vanish.
- Typically this is determined by how long he has been standing still.
- With this in mind, nearby moving pistons while "stuck" do not work for preventing him to despawn.
- If the player creates a tower with holes in it, technically it's not a tower that is connected to the ground. The solution is that he will either despawn, or jump really high to get to the player.
He now lasts 8 days instead of 3 days
- In theory it takes longer for him to appear now, but I'm not sure.
Damage Resistance
- He now takes reduced damage from certain attacks, such as lava, fire, magic, explosion, fall, and projectiles (encouraging hand to hand combat)
- He is nearly immune to other attacks, such as spear (known as strong_melee, which may impact other things in the future) or mace.
Stealing the dragon egg
- Yes that's a thing.
- As soon as the dragon is defeated and the dragon egg appears, the wandering murderer will appear, take it, then leave.
- You can get the dragon egg back by trading at the trading stand.
- Can be toggled.
Spawn eggs
- Kinda of janky, but using paintings, you can now obtain 4 spawn eggs from the creative inventory.
- To have the wandering murderer actually spawn there needs to be a "valid target" aka a player in survival mode in the overworld nearby.
- The lobotomized murderer is used as a way for content creators to control him for predetermined clips.
Lobotomized Murderer
- If he is actively attacking the player, running "/scoreboard players set ai wander.data 26" enables this mode.
- using the 4 functions available within "wander:ai/sided/toggle", he can do various things. eg "/function wander:ai/sided/toggle/dance"
- Dance: runs up to the player, and dances (as the idle animation).
- Goto: slides towards the target, and will go to the exact location the player is, including rotation. Typically for things like screenshots.
- Jump: jumps towards the target. As soon as he lands, he will cause oak planks and cobblestone nearby to launch everywhere.
- Leave: he jumps away.
Settings changes
- can view settings via "/function milk:settings"
- Can trigger whether or not the wandering murderer can be spawned
- Can trigger whether the wandering slaughterer triggers after killing a wandering trader with bad omen
- Can toggle whether or not he steals the dragon egg.
- Can toggle whether the stand appears (kinda cringe if yall disable it)
- Can toggle music (will not stop the cutouts from playing music)
Music plays in the "hostile" audio channel, since most people have music off
He has a stand now lol Introducing.. Fine Print!
Once the wandering murderer has taken enough damage, this stand will appear. While not revealing too much, he will swap your item with whatever he's holding sometimes, which makes the fight more difficult (try fighting him with a resin clump)
Remove "Trader's Onslaught" In favour of "Wandering Slaughterer"
If you kill a wandering trader with bad omen, the wandering slaughterer will attack. This version is significantly harder, and meant as a much more difficult challenge than the regular, typically requiring lots of gear and healing.
Changes during this:
- His attacks deal more damage
- Fine print will attack the player more frequently
- Resonance attacks now occur
- He's red
- He has purple sword
- Gunpowder thrown will produce fire when exploded (the fire deals no damage to the environment and will disappear after ~25 seconds)
- Instead of despawning, he will substitute himself for a cutout, and re-appear elsewhere.
- He no longer does long jumps towards the player or freezing bodies of water.
- His main attack to reach high up players is the high jump. This attack was initially made for wandering slaughterer, but also rarely used by the regular since it seems pretty effective.
- He has a new song (Thanks LeFidoot for the music!)
- He has a phase 3
- Emerald walls to prevent escaping
- Gunpowder is throw literally everywhere
- If the player dies, they will be trapped in an emerald crystal until either freed by another player, or if the wandering slaughterer leaves.
- If all players are dead, the fight will immediately end, the emerald walls will vanish, all players are freed from emerald crystals, and the player gets no reward
When he's killed, he will give the player his purple sword, which is enchanted with resonance, and deals increased damage. Depending on the level of bad omen used, he will have more health, and the sword given will be stronger.
Trading stand
There is now a structure near spawn called the trading stand. A green shield is visible around the structure, which mostly prevents players from fighting within the boundaries, and also prevents mobs from going in (please do not throw an ender pearl in here please please please) After being defeated, he will sometimes come to the trading stand to offer 3 goods for a few days. Some of these items are incredibly useless, others being decent items from vanilla, and others being new items.
Item stuff
Whey Protein Powder:
- No longer triggers the "Trader's Onslaught"
- When consumed, the player becomes 1.5x the size, with stronger attacks for 3 minutes.
Swords:
- Holding right click allows the player to leap forward and slam into the ground.
- Landing will deal 5 hearts of damage to mobs within a 5 block radius.
- In theory, players get a 90% fall damage decrease to prevent fall damage related deaths, however for some reason this can be weirdly inconsistent based on ping.
Placeable Cutout:
- Obtained through trading with the wandering murderer
- Pretty self explanatory. It does not play music, but it can be placed and broken by the player.
Emerald Apple:
- Obtained through trading with the wandering murderer
- It is considered an item between enchanted golden apples, and regular golden apples. However instead of resistance/regeneration, it provides absorption hearts and instant health.
- trust me bro
Bottled hero of the village:
- Obtained through trading with the wandering murderer
- It's a potion that grants hero of the villager for 8 minutes.
Wanderer's Bag:
- 33% chance of getting this instead of the Gilded Emerald Cleaver after defeating the wandering murderer.
- You are able to store 5 weaker entities (including TNT) inside, and throw them out at will.
- Wardens do not count as weaker entities.
- Wandering traders can be captured as that allows players to group together to collectively fight the wandering murderer.
- Villagers cannot be captured due to that being very overpowered. You just gotta use normal methods of transporting them now >:)
Wander Pocket Watch:
- Can be crafted using 7 emeralds, a clock, and a compass.
- Tells you how long before he appears at the trading stand, and where the trading stand is.
- The recipes unlocks after visiting the trading stand for the first time.
Music discs:
- Wandering traders can offer two music discs, while the third is crafted.
- There are also secret joke music discs.
Revamped Kidnap Dimension
Before, it was a chest where mobs are thrown in. Now it is a large area with huge piles of emeralds. To now escape, you must open chests to find the way out, while avoiding the other things inside of the dimension....
A ludicrous amount of bug fixes
Huge optimizations, since he appears to otherwise be extremely laggy even when not active which was a problem.
The milkman's weapons datapack was also fixed up a bit with optimizations, and easier crafting recipes. This is supposed to be an early game item so it is now easier to obtain in that stage of the game.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
