So you're playing Minecraft and suddenly you can't click anything. Buttons don't respond, inventory is broken, JEI won't let you type. You check the log and it's spamming Invalid scancode 248 and Invalid mouse button 99 over and over.
It's Hyprland. Sometimes it sends fake release events with scancode 248 and mouse button 99. Could be during a workspace switch, could be for no obvious reason at all. Minecraft has no idea these aren't real keys and just passes them through. Everything breaks.
WayKeyFix stops that before the game even sees them. That's all it does.
- Zero config, just put it in mods
- On Wayland it checks each event, on X11 or Windows it does nothing at all
- Client side only, obviously
- Only drops events that make no sense, everything else works fine
Works with any mod or modpack since it never touches game logic.
FAQ
Will this break my keybinds or something?
No. If you press a real key nothing changes. It only filters out values no keyboard or mouse could ever produce.
Do I need to install this on a server?
No, it's client side. Drop it in your local mods folder.
Does this cost performance?
On X11 or Windows it does nothing at all. On Wayland each keypress or mouse click runs through two integer comparisons. In practice that's maybe a nanosecond per event. You'd need to press keys for a few thousand years to accumulate a single frame of lag.
Install
Put the jar in your NeoForge 1.21.1 instance's mods/ folder. Needs NeoForge 21.1.233+.
Notice
You might still see Invalid scancode 248 in the log. That's GLFW itself logging the error before the mixin even runs. The log message stays but the actual input corruption is gone.
