PLEASE READ:
This mod is NOT a port of Corosus' original Weather and Tornadoes Mod! It is built from the ground up with custom textures, code, and content. It is directly inspired from his original mod, and is meant to be a "re-imagining" of it in modern Minecraft. This mod will not be ported to Forge or NeoForge. I highly recommend you play Corosus' amazing Weather2 mod if you want more realistic storms: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/weather-storms-tornadoes
This project has not been officially endorsed by Corosus.
I highly recommend using Sodium with this mod. It improves performance greatly. However, make sure to disable "Animate Only Visible Textures"! This setting is usually on and prevents tornado particles from animating.
For a more comprehensive overview of this mod, please see the CurseForge page: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/tornado-mod-classic
Tornado Mod Classic
Tornado Mod Classic is a re-imagining of the original Weather and Tornadoes (Weather1) mod by Corosus. Weather1 was discontinued after version 1.6.4, as it was replaced by his newer Weather2 mod, which features localized weather.
As amazing as Weather2 is, I was always drawn to the older version and was sad when it got replaced. I grew up playing the original mod, and always dreamed of bringing it back to life. I originally began this project as a way to practice my Java/Minecraft modding skills. If you are someone who played the original version and miss it like I do, I hope you will enjoy this remake!
Please note that there will be a lot of custom content in this mod; I have bigger plans in mind than simply remastering the original.

MAIN CONTENT
This mod adds tornadoes, four new weather events, two new mobs, a handful of new items and blocks, and tons of weather customization options to Minecraft.
NEW WEATHER EVENT: DOWNPOUR
During Downpours, rain will become heavier and louder, puddles will be created, and movement speed will be slightly decreased for all walking mobs.
NEW ENTITY: FLYING FISH
The flying fish is a unique mob which spawns both in river biomes and during downpours. It can be killed and broken down into fillets, which can be cooked. Eating cooked flying fish grants the player slow falling for 8 seconds. During downpours, the flying fish will become aggressive.
NEW WEATHER EVENT: WIND
Wind is a passive weather event that fluctuates depending on the day. Wind is mainly an atmospheric addition. Wind becomes audible outdoors if it is strong enough, and particles will drift in the direction the wind is blowing. Leaves Blocks will also drop new leaf particles depending on the strength of the wind. This is a feature carried over from the original Weather and Tornadoes mod. Its worth noting that wind is an exclusively outdoor phenomenon; it will not have any effect indoors or underground.
NEW WEATHER EVENT: GALE
A Gale is a stronger wind storm which can trigger wind-interactable blocks such as: doors, trapdoors, levers, fence gates, buttons, and pressure plates. In addition, dropped items will be blown in the direction of the wind. These storms can cause problems if you're not prepared!
NEW WEATHER EVENT: SEVERE STORM
Thunderstorms now have a chance to worsen into Severe Storms. During severe storms, lightning becomes more frequent and the chances of players and other mobs being struck by lightning greatly increases. The sky will become darker and wind will be forced to maximum strength. Tornadoes can spawn in severe storms!
NEW ENTITY / WEATHER EVENT: TORNADO
Tornadoes will destroy terrain and suck up mobs and blocks. They do not behave like normal entities; they are more like mini weather events.
There are 4 built-in tornado types in this mod: Stage2, Stage3, Stage4, and Stage5. They are directly modeled after the original tornadoes from Weather1. There are also waterspouts!
NEW BLOCKS: TORNADO DETECTOR, SIREN, TORNADO DISPELLER
The Tornado Detector will behave like the tornado sensor from Corosus' mods. It will provide a redstone signal when a tornado is within 128 blocks.
The Siren is similar to the tornado siren from Corosus' mods. It will continuously sound an alarm while activated with redstone.
The Tornado Dispeller is a unique block which can dissipate tornadoes!

ADDITIONAL CONTENT
NEW BLOCKS: TURBINE, WIND CHANNELER, STORM INFUSER, TUFF VENTILATED CELL
The Turbine is a new utility block which can push items, mobs, and players.
Wind Channelers are used to focus wind into wind vessels. They have four vents - one on each side. Players can choose which vent is open, but only one can be opened at a time. If the open vent is aligned with the wind (the wind is going into the open vent) the channeler will begin to accumulate focused wind.
(Wind Vessels are a new bottle item which can collect focused wind from channelers)
The Storm Infuser is used to charge wind cores. Get one into the center of a tornado with a wind core inside!
The Tuff Ventilated Cell can contain a single stack of items inside of it. Once inside, the only way to free the items is to (1) blow it out with a turbine, or (2) suck it out with a tornado. Breaking the block will only destroy the items inside.

NEW STRUCTURE: PUZZLE CHAMBERS
Puzzle Chambers are a new type of structure which will generate in flat biomes. Puzzle chambers are simple puzzles that players must solve using Tuff Turbines and Tuff Wind Channels.
I recommend watching my showcase and reading the CurseForge page to get a better idea of how puzzle chambers work. Puzzle chambers are the only place to get Weather Devices - a very important item used in crafting!
NEW ENTITY: BREEZLING
The Breezling is a new Breeze-like mob which will fly around and defend puzzle chambers.
NEW ITEM: WEATHER FORECASTER
The Weather Forecaster is a new item which can forecast probable weather events.
NEW ITEM: WIND CORE
The Wind Core is a powerful new item which grants the player manipulation over the wind. Wind cores have 5 stages, with each increasing stage granting more power than the previous.
Wind cores can currently: pull and lift mobs, trigger wind-interactable blocks, grab blocks, launch blocks, create mini-tornadoes, and repel mobs. To avoid picking up blocks when you don't want to, hold crouch! Wind cores can be upgraded via storm infusers.
CONFIGURATION
OVERHAULED WEATHER SYSTEM
Minecraft's vanilla weather system has been overhauled in this mod. Now, using the config file generated by this mod, players can decide how long the game should wait between rain and thunderstorms, as well as the odds of getting certain weather events by chance!
CONFIG FILE
This mod will generate a config file with tons of customization options for players to experiment with.
I knew when making this mod that different people would have different preferences on how often certain weather events should happen and how destructive tornadoes should be. Because of this, I added a new command: /weather_classic config! This command has three sub-commands:
- update - this will allow you to update your config settings real time in-game directly from the file.
- preview_weather_probabilites - this will generate a hypothetical week of Minecraft days and the weather events that would trigger on them given your current config settings. This will give you a good idea of how probable certain weather events are. Currently, it only accounts for rainstorms, thunderstorms, and downpours.
- preview_storm_stage_probabilites - this will generate a hypothetical set of thunderstorms and the maximum storm stage each one will reach. Useful for gauging the frequency of severe storms and stronger tornadoes.
These are NOT forecasts of the days to come in your world; they are merely probability tests. Make sure to take advantage of these commands when setting up the weather profile you want in your world! It is way more efficient than leaving the game every time you want to make a change.
CUSTOM TORNADOES
Please see the CurseForge page and this video for more information on custom tornadoes and config settings:
BUG REPORTING AND CREDITS
If you encounter any bugs, please report them on CurseForge; a comment or a direct message will work.
The number one person I want to credit for this mod is Corosus himself. He has done incredible work over the years making some of the best Minecraft mods out there! He is one of the main reasons I got into Minecraft modding in the first place, and I hope that he will appreciate this mod if he sees it. Here is a link to his projects page: https://www.curseforge.com/members/corosus/projects. Please try his mods if you haven't already!
I had help with the textures from coderman932 and MakeItCasual. They are both very talented and I could not have made this mod look as nice as it does without them!
