Changes
Improved
- Routing is now built on a navigation graph of the area around you. Routes appear in places where none could be found before, and take noticeably fewer detours — in the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
- Pathfinding itself is about 2.6–2.9× faster, and uses about a quarter of the memory it used to.
- Routes are reviewed as the map fills in, so a route planned from a partly loaded map gets straightened out while you walk.
- The HUD now tells you what to do next — mine, place a block, jump, climb — instead of only where to turn.
- Dangerous stretches are drawn as a dashed line as well as coloured, so they can be told apart without relying on colour.
Fixed
- In the Nether, the route could send you around in circles, walking back and forth instead of heading for the destination.
- In the Nether, the route could suddenly switch to a long detour partway through a journey.
- The route could lead you away from your destination — you would follow it and end up further away than you started. Guidance that would take you well past your closest approach is no longer used.
- Routes across wide lava seas could fail to appear, or head into the lava instead of around it.
- A route that already reached the destination could be thrown away and recomputed when a short reconnection was all that was needed.
- Routes could fail to appear on the outer End islands.
- The route line did not extend from under your feet right after
/xaeronav goto. - The route could recalculate over and over at the same spot.
- Moves that are not actually possible are no longer used: jumping while holding a vine or ladder, placing a bridge while holding one, and jumping out of a cobweb. Falling costs after grabbing a vine now match real falling speed.
- The HUD kept showing warnings (danger, boat, block placement) for parts of the route you had already passed.
- The HUD showed "arriving soon" and the remaining distance for intermediate waypoints instead of only the final destination.
- A corrupted config file is now recovered instead of failing, and custom values are no longer lost when toggling settings.
Known issues
- Routing is still slow in the Nether. The first route can take several seconds to appear, and the mod keeps recomputing while you walk. This is being worked on.
- In difficult terrain, such as the far side of a large lava sea, no route may appear at all rather than a route that leads you the wrong way.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
