As Intended is built around Minecraft’s original design philosophy: a sandbox defined by player choice, not guided progression. Where many modern modpacks rely on quests and guided systems to create direction, this pack intentionally steps back, allowing gameplay to emerge naturally from exploration, experimentation, and personal goals.
As Intended aims to preserve the original Minecraft experience, as Mojang intended. There are no quests and no forced paths, only expanding features where needed and keeping mechanics that already work.

As Intended aims to preserve the vanilla gameplay while also expanding what's needed. The pack intentionally avoids mods that provide excessive guidance or external information. There are no minimap mods and no recipe viewers such as JEI, REI, or EMI.
Exploration and navigation rely on in-game tools, most notably the Antique Atlas. Crafting and progression are handled through the vanilla recipe book, encouraging discovery rather than instant knowledge.
Large-scale content mods that dramatically alter gameplay flow are intentionally excluded. Additions are limited to mods that complement existing systems, such as Farmer’s Delight, which expands farming and food in a way that feels consistent with vanilla design. Any included content is optional, non-intrusive, and never required to “progress”.

Performance is a core pillar of As Intended. Every update aims to improve or maintain performance across a wide range of systems, including lower-end hardware and servers.
The modpack prioritizes lightweight, well-optimized mods and avoids unnecessary overhead. Visual enhancements are carefully selected to remain performant; currently included shaders such as Visual Vibrance and Miniature Shader provide subtle visual improvements similar to Vibrant Visuals while maintaining high framerates.
No feature is included at the cost of stability or responsiveness. If a mod negatively impacts performance without offering meaningful gameplay value, it does not belong in As Intended.

As Intended is not intended for players who prefer heavily guided gameplay. If you enjoy structured questlines, clear progression paths, or mods that provide constant direction and objectives, this pack may not be a good fit.
Players looking for large-scale tech systems, automation chains, or major gameplay overhauls may also find this pack too restrained. There are no complex machinery trees, no RPG-style leveling systems, and no content designed around optimization or endgame grinds.
This pack is also not focused on instant information. If you rely on minimaps, recipe viewers, or external overlays to play efficiently, As Intended deliberately moves away from that approach in favor of discovery, exploration, and player intuition.

Suffixes:

- DH - Base pack with Distant Horizons
Note: All of these versions are compatible with each other server-wise. Also the numbering is the same for serverpacks
