Ashes of Imperium Overview
Ashes of Imperium is a heavily curated, multiplayer-focused modpack set in an alternate Warhammer-inspired universe. Built heavily around the Create mod suite, the pack features Create: Aeronautics as its flagship mod, allowing players to build, pilot, and battle full-scale airships and flying dreadnoughts.
Ashes of Imperium also serves as an official showcase server for developers in the Create Radars community, hosting cutting-edge community sub-mods and radar systems integrated directly into the gameplay loop. Server & Environment Compatibility
While Ashes of Imperium can be hosted on private servers or run locally, it is custom-tailored for the Official Ashes of Imperium Server. Playing on the official server provides access to the complete intended experience, including live admin-driven Warp events, custom NPC invasions, territory wars, and community progression.
Note: In the current build, GM and event-driven mechanics require manual server/admin triggers. Fully automated systems for standalone and single-player servers are under active development. Story & Premise
Humanity has collapsed, and the Warp's presence has ground to a halt. While this bought the world time, it also trapped humanity in an age of ash. As players awaken, build airships, expand infrastructure, and purge the remaining Warp forces, the dimension responds in kind—growing stronger, more hostile, and more aggressive as player influence expands.
It is up to the players to explore, claim territory, and push back against the tide without turning on each other—while server leadership channels the Warp, launching targeted assaults, air raids, and horde events against player strongholds. Core Features & Mechanics Create Suite & Aeronautics
Airships & Fleet Combat: Construct custom moving airships using Create: Aeronautics, enabling aerial logistics, flying fortresses, and full ship-to-ship combat.
Radar & Targeting Systems: Utilize advanced radar tech from the Create Radars developer ecosystem to track enemy movements, guide long-range weaponry, and defend airbases.
Complex Industrial Automation: Build large-scale kinetic power networks, processing factories, and automated resource pipelines using the Create ecosystem.
Arcane Systems & Survival
Magic & Wards: Harness deep magic systems to craft powerful artifacts, manipulate local environments, and ward settlements against incoming Warp threats.
Environmental Survival: Integrated environmental hazard systems (such as Tough As Nails) require players to actively manage temperature and survival mechanics in extreme biomes and Warp layers.
Development Roadmap: Warp Layer Progression
The project is actively expanding. Future updates will introduce a multi-layered Warp dimension system, progressing through distinct, high-difficulty layers:
Layer 1: The Green
An infinite, dense forest locked in perpetual midnight. Nowhere under the canopy is safe from waves of powerful plant-like entity threats; survival requires ascending above the trees. Introduces new plant-based magic systems, resources, and automation trees.
Layer 2: The Deep
A high-stakes aerial survival challenge. Players must bring their Create Aeronautics ships to hold off endless waves of hostile forces before time runs out—the only way to escape is forward.
Layer 3: The City
An endless, dark, abandoned metropolis where the objective is hidden inside a single building. Features extreme mob density requiring heavy-duty horde clearing tactics and heavy firepower.
Layer 4: The Pools
A surreal, aquatic environment inspired by backrooms aesthetics. Players are forced to rely on pure skill and tactical adaptation, as gear is neutralized while local entities thrive.
Layer 5: The Kiln
An environment of oppressive, deadly heat driven by Tough As Nails. Surviving requires combining all technology, magic, and gear acquired from previous layers. Features shifting terrain that resists permanent base construction.
Layer 6: Overworld 2
A deceptively peaceful, welcoming layer that disguises dangerous mind games and high-tier mimics. Players must solve psychological mechanics and discern illusion from reality to progress.
