Bells and Whistles

I couldn't find a client-side only modpack that comes out-of-the-box all the fancy quality-of-life mods that I like having. Because I always add my own list of mods, I have to update my mods manually every time there's an update, and I hate that.

So I decided to upload my modpack to Modrinth so if others are in the same boat as me and have a similar taste in QoL mods, they can download this instead of manually picking all the mods.

It also doesn't burn my house down when running on my crappy 16GB ram laptop so it should run alright on yours hopefully

Everything crashes from incompatability issues when trying to update mods manually

Works on vanilla servers, doesn't change gameplay

  • Lots of performance mods!
  • Simple Voice Chat (with a soundboard!)
  • ChatNotify so that you notice when you're mentioned even if you're not paying attention to the chat
  • Axiom, Litematica and other building tools
  • e4mc to play with friends without a server
  • Has Xaeros Minimap and Worldmap
  • No Chat Reports (Allows reports by default as I had issues with it connecting to a server I play on) and No Chat Restrictions
  • Minor visual tweaks (such as 3D Skin Layers)

How to use the various thingies

This isn't an exhaustive list of everything the modpack does, but it's the main stuff

Calculator

Do /calc <maths stuff here>. You can also calculate crafting materials like /calc craft white_concrete 5 sb -> crafting 5 shulker boxes of white concrete and /calc nether ~ ~ ~ to find the nether equivalent to your current overworld coordinates, and a bunch of other stuff

ChatNotify

Edit the config for this mod (in mod settings) and set it to make a ping noise and highlight when your username or nickname or whatever other key words you want is said in chat.

e4mc

Makes it so people outside of your wifi network can join your 'LAN' worlds by creating a temporary address for them to connect to. Super useful to play with friends without paying for a server. By default, has whitelist enabled. Use /whitelist add <friends username> to let your friends join your world. (Disabling whitelist risks random people joining, and using hacks/exploits to destroy everything. Always make a backup before disabling whitelist.)

Flashback

Records your gameplay, and the world around you as you play. Press the camera button on the main menu to view your recordings. Has a bunch of cinematic features for content creators, search it up for more info.

Freecam

Press F4 to enable

MiniHUD

Press H to toggle overlays like light level on blocks and render a box around beacons showing their range.

Simple Voice Chat

In-game voice chat. Requires the server to have it installed on their side for it to work. Press Y to access the soundboard (where you can add custom sound effects)

Stendhal

Edit books with extra customisation like changing the font colour, works on servers usually

Minimap/Worldmap

Maps out the world as you explore, and you can set waypoints to important locations so that you don't get lost. Kinda cheaty in singleplayer imo but basically essential on SMPs. Press enter to view. Press button 5 on your mouse by default to show/hide the minimap and in-world waypoints.

Zoomify

Press Z to zoom

The following mods not covered here because they are too complex, look them up on YouTube if you're interested:

  • Axiom (a building mod for when doing stuff in creative mode)
  • Litematica (schematics, making building in survival easier)
Mod List/Credits

Notes

  • Try increasing your allocated RAM if it's randomly crashing without leaving a normal crash report
  • Durability Ping will make a ping noise when you're holding a tool with low durability, of if your armour is low. Disable if you think it's annoying.
  • Elytra Pitch Helper shows little cue markers when flying with elytra for the 40-degree infinite flight trick. Disable if you think it's annoying.
  • Flashback records everything by default (I like to have it on so that I can troubleshoot things more easily). You can disable this to save storage space.
  • GUI Scale is 3 by default, which might not fit your screen. You can change this in settings.
  • The minimap has entity radar disabled by default, because I think it's unfair. You can change this in Xaeros Minimap config.
  • Simple Voice Chat is push-to-talk by default. It uses mouse button 4 (if you don't have a mouse with extra buttons, you should reassign this)
  • Minimap and waypoints show/hide button is button 5 (if you don't have a mouse with extra buttons, you should reassign this)
  • e4mc whitelist is ON by default (use /whitelist add <username> to allow someone to join your world)
  • Language is Australian English by default
  • Voxy Worldgen is disabled by default for performance reasons
