I just recently had an experience in Minecraft that likely will not be believed, but I shall tell the story anyways.
I had just gotten a copy of Minecraft Alpha for my birthday, and I was super excited to test it out and build cool structures, as I was a huge watcher of Minecraft YouTube. It was the night after the party. and I had decided to stay up a bit later than usual to do some mining and crafting. It was 11:09 PM.
The world took forever to load, as I have a pretty slow computer, but eventually I loaded into the world in front of a small hill with a pond behind me. I was a bit confused, as I didn't see any animals in the world. It was almost as if I was completely alone, which seemed off. I started punching some wood, as my friends has told me to do. I constructed two wooden pickaxes in case one of them broke and had 13 planks to spare. At that moment, an unusual song started to play. It was C418's song, "Excuse". I was confused, as in the YouTube videos of the game I'd seen, that song had never played. It scared me slightly, as the song had a very ominous tone, combined with the dense render-distance fog i had to put on so I didn't lag. But then I realized the sun was setting, and I needed to kill sheep to make a bed, and fast. But as I was running for my life I realized there were no hostile mobs in sight. Something was definitely wrong. I saw a distant movement in the dense fog moments later, and I saw pale, empty, white eyes staring back at me. I turned my game brightness up to see the figure better, but as soon as I closed the pause menu, they had ran off into the fog. I went after them for a bit, but the figure had disappeared completely.
I moved on with the world, chocking the experience up to a glitch or a bug that had prevented the mobs from spawning and what had shown me the figure. But as the next in game day dawned, I noticed some abstractions throughout the world. Pyramids of sand or stone and two by two tunnels through the underground. I even found some redstone torches on the walls of caves. Regardless I had enough Minecraft for the day, so I logged off of the world and went to bed.
That night I dreamed of running through a dark forest at night, with the white eyed figure chasing after me with whispers in what I can only assume is Swedish all around me. Minecraft cave sounds flooded my brain. When the figure caught up to me in the dream, the whispers got louder and I could hear what they screamed.
"HJÄLP", or help in Swedish. I awoke in a cold sweat. I decided to go to the Minecraft logs for the world to see if anyone had somehow joined the world. I saw one line that explained everything. "DIMMAFÖDDSYSKON joined the game." Translated from Swedish, it read "fog born sibling". Out of options, I made a forum post asking if anyone had seen this, "DIMMAFÖDDSYSKON" in their worlds before, and got no replies, in fact, the post was deleted after a few mere minutes. After posting it again, I got an email from an unknown user, named, "HEROBRINE". The email simply read, "STOP". When I checked the user's page, the site hit a 404 error. I asked some of my friends if they knew someone named Herobrine, and one of them remembered that Notch, the game's creator, had a brother named Herobrine. So, I DMd Notch about it and he replied with the following,
Ah yes, I remember Herobrine, or Hero, as his nickname was. He loved rainy days because of the beautiful fog they would create, in his own words. My mom called him her little dimma född syskon, but unfortunately, the day after I showed him my game for the first time, he disappeared without a trace. I'm not exactly comfortable sharing the rest of the story, though.
I told you this story was not to be believed, but please, I'm begging you dear reader, how in the world could Notch's dead brother be in my Minecraft world? This pack is a modern recreation of the experience I had in that alpha Minecraft world, so you can answer the question I was evidently never meant to. I feel like I'm going crazy trying to figure it out, I feel his presence in the dark, in the fog, and feel him creeping under my skin, so please, tell me if you are to see this figure, this dimma född syskon in your worlds, please.
