Minecraft Refreshed Edition is a modpack aiming to "Refresh" Minecraft's gameplay and visuals whilst still staying true to the original game (and maybe bring back some of that old timey nostalgia).
With how much this modpack changes, it's impossible (as much as I'd like to) to go through all the mods in this pack in detail without writing a seven page essay, but there are a few highlights to mention:
Feature Updates (Updating/Editing features already included in the base game to bring more life to the game)
-
Amplified Nether - DOUBLES the Nether's height.
-
Fancy Menu - Revamps the main menu.
-
Missing Wilds - Adds fireflies, and improves the birch forests adding fallen trees and new flowers.
-
Boids - Revamps the fish AI.
-
Effective - Adds cascades at the bottom of waterfalls, splashes when items fall into water, biome ambience, and much more.
-
Explorify - Adds brand new structures that resemble vanilla's structure style.
-
Friends & Foes - The Mob Vote Mobs!!
-
Music Delay Remover - Makes music play more often.
-
And many more!
Quality of Life Updates (Minor changes to make your life a little easier):
-
Right Click Harvest - Right click crops with a hoe to harvest and automatically replant them.
-
Crops Love Rain - Crops grow faster in the rain.
-
Controlling - Adds a search bar to the controls screen.
-
Continue Button - Click the Continue button on the main menu to join your last played server or world.
-
Cherished Worlds - Favorite your worlds saving them from accidental deletion.
-
Kaffee's Dual Ride - Have two people on the same horse!
-
Screenshot Viewer - Let's you see your screenshots in game.
-
And, once again, so many more..!
And last, but not least...
Feature Port & Fun Mods (Adding features from bedrock and other features that don't fit anywhere else, but are too good not to mention):
-
Controlify - Brings controller support to Java (Refreshed) Edition.
-
Skin Shuffle - Adds a skin gallery similar to Bedrock Edition that allows you to change your skins in game.
-
Comfortable Campfires - Gives you the regeneration effect when huddled around a campfire.
-
Cool Rain - Changes rain sounds when you are under certain blocks.
-
First Person Model - Allows you to see your whole character's body (You worked hard on that skin, now you can actually see it!)
-
Sitting+ - Lets you pose and sit on the ground (with special poses when certain conditions are met)
-
Sound Physics Perfected - Adds reverb in caves, muffling behind walls, and more I can't possibly explain (Check out the mod page for more info, I don't fully understand how it works myself, but I love it.)
And genuinely SO MANY MORE. There's so much to talk about in this pack. There are so many little changes that come together to create a coherent and satisfying experience, keep an eye out as you play in your world (and maybe prepare a little harder for that Ender Dragon Fight..)
That's a lot of what's in the pack, but let's talk about what's not in the pack.. yet.
Planned Features:
Tutorial Worlds -
- One of my favorite things from the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft was the Tutorial Worlds. It was an easy way to get into the game and even when you knew what you were doing they were always fun to explore and find new secrets (anyone remember the Stampy's Lovely World replica??). The plan after the release of Refreshed Edition 1.0 is to bring back one or two of the old tutorial worlds retrofitted for the newer versions and also create a completely new Tutorial World from scratch to have a new take on the subject. I'm unsure when this will be finished, but it's on the list of plans!
Minigame Servers -
- My ACTUAL favorite thing from Xbox 360 edition was the minigame servers! Having a button on the main menu to just hop into a dedicated minigame with other people and have some fun (the Elytra one was undoubtedly the best and I will die on that hill) was amazing. This one is a huge maybe, since a public server of this sort would be way out of my area of expertise, but if there would be people willing to help make this possible (helping with builds, datapack stuff, maybe some modding, etc...) it would go a long way to making this possible. I would love to make this happen, so if you're interested, let me know through the discord.
