Surface Living

Surface Living is a small, curated modpack made to run well on my wife's Surface Pro X Elite.

We had a rough time trying to play popular modpacks on this device. Some mods that are commonly included can drop performance to 2 or 3 FPS and cause serious graphical issues. I never found one clear cause. After removing a few mods, dependency issues piled up and the pack stopped being what we originally downloaded.

Instead of tearing apart large modpacks to find the problem, this pack was built from scratch. Mods were added gradually and tested to keep performance stable.

The mod list reflects how we actually play Minecraft. Building, farming, light exploration, and the slower early game.

This is not a kitchen sink pack and it is not trying to replace larger modpacks. The goal is simply to provide a stable and enjoyable modded experience that runs well on the Surface Pro. If it works well on other systems too, that is a bonus.

Mods may change over time and things may occasionally break.

The Whimscape resource pack is included and enabled by default. Recommended shaders are included but optional.
