Custom Stuff

earlygame progression has been overhauled! use a flint hammer to bash your first ores out of stone, and make bronze to get your first pick. iron tools and equipment is locked behind steel mixing, requiring the heat of lava to process!

there are many ways to get you from Flint to Steel, and it's up to you to figure out what works for you. apart from this description, I encourage going in blind, and discovering what's in the pack by playing!

to ensure everything works together smoothly and consistency, this modpack comes with numerous custom patches, recipe alterations, and item consolidations. because of this, however, DO NOT REPORT ISSUES TO THE ORIGINAL DEVS!!! I've done some very invasive changes. I am the only one responsible for the monster under these bedsheets.

Requirements

less than you'd think!

the computer I made this pack on is a more-than-a-decade-old laptop with integrated graphics. I can get 12fps on singleplayer superflat with 4gb of ram allocated, and slightly more on a normal multiplayer world. take of that what you will!

Special Setup

now, for the Dorfeldt Experience(tm), you SHOULD (RFC2119) run this pack under Java 25 with the following JVM flags: -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+UseCompactObjectHeaders (and -XX:+UseStringDeduplication as well if you have low ram or don't wanna allocate more than 4gb). you can do this pretty easily through prismlauncher: after installing just go to instance settings, then settings->java, download mojang java 25 and shove the flags into the flags box after enabling it. bada bing bada boom

Installation

don't know how to install a modpack? follow these shrimple steps!

1. download prismlauncher it's by far the best minecraft launcher that currently exists
2. at the top-right corner, you should be able to either manage accounts or add an account directly. login to your account
3. at the top-left corner, click add instance
4. left side, click Modrinth, then search for this pack
5. bottom-right, click okay
6. wait for it to download
7. click the new modpack instance (or right-click on it)
8. click edit at the right-side panel (or, if you right-clicked, in the drop-down menu)
9. in the new window that pops up, click settings on the left side, then java at the top
10. select Skip Java Compatability Checks
11. change Minimum Memory Usage to 4096 MiB
12. check Java Arguments
13. click Open Java Downloader, deselect Recommended at the bottom, and download Java 25.
14. click Detect, select your new Java 25
15. paste in -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+UseCompactObjectHeaders to the Java Arguments box
16. either add -XX:+UseStringDeduplication to the end of the Java Arguments box, or increase both Minimum and Maximum Memory Usage to 6144 MiB. prefer the first option if your computer has less than 16GB of ram installed
17. woaw

and you're good! double-click the instance once it's installed to run :3

Updating

1. click the instance (or right-click on it)
2. click edit at the right-side panel (or, if you right-clicked, in the drop-down menu)
3. in the new window that pops up, click modrinth on the left side
4. after the big horizontal line, there'll be a little "update to version" and to the right of that a dropdown of pack versions. the latest should be automatically selected
5. click update pack to the right of the dropdown
