Progression

Progression in Matcha Flavoured flows differently to Vanilla Minecraft. It's no longer a rush to get the best tools, or the biggest mob pit, or the most efficient Villager farm. It's meant to be experienced, not just blown through like routine.

This modpack adds on to this style of progression by adding things like Comforts, which allows more flexibility in how you set up (or don't set up) a base. It's meant to accomodate for playstyles that are less encouraged in Vanilla.

Visual enhancements (Kind of?)

Matcha Flavoured recommends* the usage of mods such as AmbientSounds, Better Clouds and Cosy Critters & Creepy Crawlies. Those mods are included, along with Falling Leaves, LambDynamicLights, Particle Rain, Puddles and Floods, and more.

If shaders are your thing, it also includes Sodium and Iris, and comes with some preinstalled shaderpacks, mostly on the lower-end side. Shaders are NOT enabled by default. If you're really running a potato, I'd suggest starting with the Miniature Shader first so you don't crash your game or set your computer on fire or something- It's basically just Vanilla plus some dynamic shadows.

*I swear I saw the recommendation of some of these mods somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. Apologies if I'm wrong!

Building and farming

Usucha adds Farmer's Delight and a few add-ons, and also a hefty dollop of Macaw's building block mods. This is personal preference on my end as I and my friends like to build, farm, and cook, but these are totally optional and can be disabled before you create a world.

Note: Some of Farmer's Delight's items clash with Matcha Flavoured's items. For example, there's two types of tomatoes- but one is used in Matcha Flavoured's recipes, and one is used in Farmer's Delight and its addons. I can't really change this as of right now, as Matcha Flavoured's "tomato" is actually beetroot in Vanilla, so if you play with Farmer's Delight enabled, be prepared for a little jank. I'll probably try to merge the two types at some point. As far as I know, the Macaw mods don't clash with anything aside from maybe having textures too saturated for the rest of the resourcepack. I'm working on it!

Multiplayer and personal expression

Usucha aims to incorporate proper P2P multiplayer into Java Minecraft without sending telemetry to third parties or pushing you to pay money in a game you've already paid for (cough cough). As of right now, it uses e4all, Skin Restorer, Skin Shuffle and Cosmetica to achieve this, allowing for anyone to play with friends. Lootr is also installed to allow everyone to get their share of loot.

The drawbacks of this approach:

• It can seem daunting to someone with zero experience in modding (e4mc and its forks are inherently a little more 'technical' and not very Bedrock-y)
• Skin Shuffle makes a copy of your imported skins and saves them in the Minecraft folder, which can be a pain in some circumstances
• Cosmetica comes with no preset cosmetics, as far as I'm aware, which means you must model your own or find cosmetics scattered online.

Ideally, I want to make a GUI for e4mc/e4all that would add a "friends" feature of sorts, and allow for easier usage for less technically inclined players, but that's outside the scope of this modpack and won't be discussed further.

If you want to install Essential, I will not judge nor stop you, but be aware that you MUST uninstall/disable e4all, Skin Restorer, Skin Shuffle and Cosmetica. There are known compatibility issues between Essential and the currently installed mods!

An attempt at privacy

Without pointing fingers, I feel there's no need for "opt-in" to be the default for data collection. I've installed mods such as No Telemetry in an attempt to mitigate this. It does disable chat reporting, so if you need chat reporting or telemetry for any reason, you can uninstall or disable the mod.

Accessibilty (Or, currently, the lack of it)

While I want everyone to be able to experience Usucha regardless of disability or preference, I've run into a couple snags while trying to implement it. Currently, Controlify is NOT supported as it may have a memory leak, or an incompatibility with a mod I'm not able to narrow down. More details are in the "Known Issues/Incompatibilites" section. I apologise!!

Other misc features

I've attempted to optimize some parts of Minecraft itself with mods like Sodium, Clumps, Packet Fixer, Stutter Fix and Language Reload. I'm not too knowledgeable on optimization or the inner workings of Minecraft, so if these are unnecessary, please let me know.

Polymorph has been installed while I work out the kinks with crafting recipes, though this may break some aspects of Matcha Flavoured.

Quality of life mods like Xaero's Minimap/World Map, TrashSlot and Tree Harvester have been installed, but these can be uninstalled/disabled according to preference.

Issues

• Game does not shut down cleanly, and will log a crash report when closed. ("Watchdog (Client shutdown from post-main)") This is caused by Cosmetica, and I cannot fix it until the mod itself is updated. This does not affect gameplay or data integrity.

Incompatibilities

• Controlify: Will periodically freeze the game when not focused on the window. Seems to work fine if you stay in the game.

I.e; If you go to look up, say, a mod's config options, and focus on the browser window for a few minutes, you'll come back and Minecraft won't be responding. 
If you exit out of the game via the "Minecraft isn't responding" window, it'll exit with -805306369. Sometimes it'll unfreeze if you wait?
I have no idea why it does this or what it's conflicting with. I seriously doubt Controlify eats up 6GB of RAM like the exit code suggests. Maybe memory leak?

• Essential: This is intentional.

If you want to install Essential, please uninstall/disable e4all, Skin Restorer, Skin Shuffle and Cosmetica. These mods are NOT compatible with Essential.
