Hey everyone. So, setting up a multiplayer zombie apocalypse on a custom map is honestly always a massive headache. Usually, you either get a bloated modpack that crashes the server, or the zombie AI just completely breaks when you drop them into a custom pre-built city.
I was getting pretty annoyed with it, so I put together this specific Server [MAP] version for Fabric. It’s basically just a stripped-down, multiplayer-optimized loadout designed specifically so you and your friends can drop it onto whatever custom world you actually want to play on.
It’s really nothing crazy, but it gets the job done and it's a genuinely handy utility to have if you just want a stable co-op challenge without destroying your server hardware.
Here is basically how it works:
- Bring your own map: This doesn't come with a world. You just download whatever custom city, haunted forest, or maze map you guys want to defend, and this pack is tailored to work smoothly on top of it.
- Smart hordes: The zombies are actually a threat. The AI is buffed and spawns are cranked up, so they will absolutely overrun your group if you don't coordinate.
- Guns (but limited): I threw firearms in so you aren't completely helpless against the massive swarms, but ammo is scarce. You'll have to play smart, conserve bullets for when you really need them, and use the map's natural chokepoints and buildings for cover.
- Actually optimized: I spent a decent amount of time tweaking the server-side stuff so it doesn't lag to death. It runs really well for co-op without dropping your tick rate into the floor every time a horde spawns.
It's a pretty simple setup, but honestly, it makes custom map survival with a group way more fun. Grab a cool map, load this onto your server, and let me know if anything completely breaks!
