⚔️ Blade — weapons that grow with you
Blade is a 100% server-side progression weapons & armor plugin for Paper. Your players install nothing — custom textures are delivered automatically through a resource pack served by the plugin itself. Drop in one jar and your SMP gets a full gear-progression endgame.
The loop
Hunt mobs → Super Essence → craft a material Essence
Explore → find that material's Upgrade Template in its themed structure
Smith → base weapon + Essence + Template = a Blade weapon
Fight → your weapon levels up, ranks up, tiers up, reforges — forever
15 materials × 5 weapon types
Swords, Axes, Maces, Greatswords and Warhammers across 15 materials — ~130 items, all riding real vanilla weapon items so enchanting and combat feel exactly right.
What a material gives you is set by its rarity:
| Rarity | You get |
|---|---|
| Uncommon | stats only |
| Rare | + a passive ability |
| Epic | + an active ability (right-click) |
| ✦ Legendary ✦ | top-end everything — Echo, Netherite, Sculk, Obsidian |
Rare/Uncommon weapons unlock their active at max Tier instead — cheap materials have a long-haul payoff. Abilities range from piercing sonic beams and blink strikes to lingering decay fields, chain lightning, leap-slams and frost novas — every material plays differently.
Real progression, stored on the item
- Levels 1–10 — weapons earn XP from hits, kills and casts; each level adds damage, with a live XP bar right in the tooltip. Every few levels = an ability Rank (faster cooldowns).
- Tiers I–V — re-smith a max-level weapon with its Template + a Super Essence. Tiering resets the level to 1: every tier is a fresh grind, and Tier V is a genuine achievement.
- Everything lives on the item itself — trade it, drop it, die with it; nothing is lost.
Armor sets
Every material has a full 4-piece set with real worn armor textures (not dyed leather). Armor strength is per-material — a full Obsidian set literally overflows the armor bar.
Wear all 4 pieces of one material:
- any set → −30% ability cooldown
- Rare+ → a set potion effect (Night Vision, Resistance, Regeneration…)
- Epic/Legendary → a defensive perk: sonic-blast attackers away, phase out of hits, blunt heavy blows, freeze whoever touches you…
🎲 Reforging
Drop a weapon, an armor piece — or even a plain vanilla sword — into an anvil with a Super Essence. The result shows only a masked ✦ REFORGED ✦ preview: the modifier is rolled the moment you take it. 30 reforges across weapon / armor / universal pools, including six combat procs (Flaming, Venomous, Executioner, Vampiric…).
Built for SMPs
- Nothing to install client-side — pack auto-served on join (self-host or external URL)
- Survival-first: every item is obtainable through play; admin commands are optional
- Hardened against dupes & item-loss: currency items can't be burned, placed, thrown or eaten by vanilla recipes; anvil/smithing edge cases are guarded
- Super Essence only drops on player kills — AFK farms don't print currency
- In-game guide book:
/blade codex— generated from live data, never stale - Every number — XP curves, cooldowns, drop rates, damage — is tunable in
config.yml
Versions
One jar supports Minecraft 1.21.11, 26.1.2 and 26.2 (Paper). Note: Paper 26.x itself requires Java 25.
Blade is fully server-side — vanilla clients connect like normal and just accept the resource-pack prompt.
