ALPHA-2.0-P5
Compatibility
Changes
Prerelease. The fifth pilot of the 2.0 realism update. The save format is the same as the earlier pilots (format 6), so it's a drop-in upgrade. See the Pilot 1 notes for everything 2.0 adds.
Weather sensors
A birch button is now a fourth kind of sensor:
| Button | Measures |
|---|---|
| Stone button | Temperature |
| Polished blackstone button | Humidity |
| Mangrove button | Temperature and humidity |
| Birch button | Weather |
/hvac create sensor [label]
- It shows
Clear,Rain,ThunderorSnowon sensor hubs and in chat. - Like a rain gauge, it needs open sky. Under a roof, glass or leaves it shows
Covered.
Readings vary from spot to spot
A house is no longer one number from wall to wall. Readings differ a little from place to place:
| Where | Up to |
|---|---|
| A heated or cooled room | ±0.5 °F |
| Outdoors | ±1.5 °F |
| Pools | ±0.3 °F |
| Lakes, rivers and the sea | ±0.8 °F |
- Humidity follows, so a warmer spot reads a little drier.
- Changes are gradual: they build over a few blocks, and each spot drifts slowly over a few in-game hours.
- Only readings vary: thermometers, sensors, the HUD,
/hvac temperatureand placeholders. Thermostats and their signs keep the room's own value, so systems never chase it. - Tuning is in the new
variance:section.
Fixed
- Standalone dehumidifiers and humidifiers in one space disagreed. One shed read 54% on one sign and 79% on the other. Units that share air now share one humidity and work on it together, and the water dehumidifiers remove is split between their tanks.
- Long sign lines were cut by the game.
EZvac | Dehumidifiershowed asEZvac |.- Lines are now measured in pixels, the way the game draws them.
- A header drops
EZvac |when the label needs the room. - A reading that doesn't fit is left off whole, never cut in half.
- Hanging signs, which are narrower, work too.
Added
-
"Air too cold." A dehumidifier in air too dry for its coil shows
Air too coldinstead ofRunning. Its coil works down to a 35 °F dew point, so this happens in snowy biomes. It can't dry that air, the same as a real one, and/hvac infoexplains why. -
Configurable sounds. Every sound EZvac plays is a
"sound volume pitch"line underaudio.sounds:audio: sounds: equipment-hum: ["block.beacon.ambient 1.6 0.55"] vent-airflow: ["block.conduit.ambient 0.3 0.5"][]silences an event, and resource-pack sounds work too.- Pick mono sounds: stereo ones sound the same at any distance.
- The defaults are the sounds EZvac already played.
-
Vent airflow sound. While a system runs, air vents near a player softly play the conduit's hum, at most one per cluster of vents. Pools and water vents stay quiet.
Upgrading
Stop the server, replace the EZvac jar with EzVac-ALPHA-2.0-P5.jar, and start it again. Nothing needs converting.
- New config sections:
audio.soundsandvariance:are added to yourconfig.ymlon startup. Nothing you already have changes, and the old file is kept asconfig.yml.before-ALPHA-2.0-P5.bak. - Hum settings: if you tuned
audio.hum-volumeoraudio.hum-pitch, your hum carries over into the new sound lines. Those two settings are no longer read. - No going back with weather sensors: Pilot 4 can't read a world that has weather sensors in it. As always, downgrading isn't supported.
- Pilot 2 correction: that release raised the default dehumidifier
rangeto 30, but aconfig.ymlwritten by Pilot 1 keepsrange: 12until you change it.
Verified
- Tests: 212 automated tests.
- Live, on Purpur 1.21.1:
- Config upgrade: a Pilot 4
config.ymlwas brought up to date with a backup. - Shared humidity: a dehumidifier and a humidifier in one shed read the same 89%.
- Signs: a dehumidifier sign showed
Dehumidifier, and a hanging sign fit without cutting a reading. - "Air too cold": a snowy-taiga dehumidifier showed it.
- Weather sensors: a weather hub went Clear → Rain → Thunder while a roofed sensor stayed
Covered. - Variance: an AC room read 70.3–70.6 °F while its thermostat kept 70.1 °F; outdoors read 61.9–64.4 °F.
- Vent sound: running AC vents played the airflow sound and stopped when the system was switched off, and a pool stayed silent.
- Config upgrade: a Pilot 4
- In-game: tried before release.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
