ALPHA-2.1-P1
Compatibility
Changes
Prerelease. The first pilot of 2.1, with smooth transitions between biomes and a server-wide Fahrenheit/Celsius switch. The save format is the same as 2.0 (format 6), so it's a drop-in upgrade from ALPHA 2.0.
Biome transitions
Walking from one biome into another no longer changes the climate in a single step. The outdoor climate at a spot is now the average of the biomes around it, within 24 blocks by default, with nearer biomes counting more. It works like Minecraft's Biome Blend setting fades grass colours.
| Walking from plains into a desert at noon | |
|---|---|
| Before | 72 °F → 100 °F in one step |
| Now | A smooth ramp over about 48 blocks |
- Unchanged deep inside a biome: the average of the same biome is that biome.
- Everything blends: temperature, humidity, weather and natural water. Rain at a desert's edge cools it partway.
- It's the real outdoors, not just a reading. A house built on a border lives in the in-between climate, and its thermostat, idle drift and ETA all follow it.
- Weather sensors still report the real sky above them.
- Light on the server: only loaded chunks are sampled, and each spot is worked out once and cached.
biome-blend:
radius-blocks: 24 # 0 turns transitions off
Fahrenheit or Celsius, server wide
units: F # or C
- Display: every temperature players see follows this setting: signs, sensor hubs, chat, the HUD and placeholders.
%ezvac_temp_f%and%ezvac_temp_c%keep their own unit. - Typing: temperatures you type use it too: thermostat sign line 3,
/hvac thermostat <id> set, and the target of/hvac create thermostat. - Either unit always works: typing
72For22Coverrides the setting, so nobody sets 72 °C by habit. config.ymlstays in °F, whatever the setting says. Those keys end in-f.- Upgrading: a config with
hud.units: Cstarts out withunits: C.hud.unitsis no longer read.
Upgrading from 2.0
- Builds near a biome border may see a slightly milder or harsher outdoor climate after the update, because it now blends with the neighbouring biome. Thermostats inside one biome behave exactly as before.
- Saves: thermostats on a border also save their mix of rain and snow (
outdoorRainShare, outdoorSnowShare). Every other thermostat saves exactly as before. - Config:
config.ymlgainsunitsandbiome-blendautomatically, with a backup of the old file.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
