ALPHA-2.1
Compatibility
Changes
Realism: EXTENDED. EZvac 2.1 gives every biome its own climate, with smooth transitions between them, and adds seasons on EZvac's own calendar, colder air up high and steady air underground. Every sign gets a lit screen and a control menu, temperatures can be shown in °F or °C, and other plugins can now build on EZvac through its public API. Upgrading from 2.0 is a jar swap: the save format doesn't change.
2.1 was tried out in four prereleases first (ALPHA-2.1-P1 to P4). If you ran one of those, this is a drop-in upgrade.
Upgrading from 2.0
- Back up
plugins/EZvac/. EZvac keeps backups too, but a copy of your own costs nothing. - Stop the server and replace the EZvac jar with
EzVac-ALPHA-2.1.jar. - Start it again. On the first start:
hvac.yml: stays format 6 and loads as it is.seasons.yml: new. Every world with a sun starts on the first day of spring.config.yml: gains every new setting with its comments. Your own settings are not changed, and the old file is kept asconfig.yml.before-ALPHA-2.1.bak. A sidebar with the stock lines also gains the season line and the{addons}line.- Rooms: systems and targets carry on. Outdoor temperatures follow the new climate at once, and rooms drift to it over the first in-game hours.
Going back: 2.0 still loads a 2.1 save, since the format is the same. It drops the few details only 2.1 knows (each thermostat's seasonal swing and its rain/snow mix on a biome border), which 2.1 samples again if you return. seasons.yml is left alone.
The climate
- A climate for every biome, modelled on real places, in place of the seven broad classes.
- Clear desert skies heat the day and cool the night hard (98 °F noon, 64 °F midnight).
- A jungle (88/74) or the sea (66/60) barely moves.
- Data-pack biomes get a climate from their Minecraft temperature and rainfall, and any biome can be given its own under
biomes:.
- Biome transitions: the outdoors at a spot blends the biomes within 24 blocks, so walking from plains into a desert ramps over about 48 blocks instead of jumping. Temperature, humidity, weather and lakes all blend.
- Seasons: four seasons of 15 days each by default, on a smooth curve.
- Plains noon goes from 90 °F in mid-summer to 54 °F in mid-winter; a taiga from 76 °F to 28 °F; a jungle hardly changes.
- Lakes and the sea follow a few days behind.
- Only temperatures change: biomes, rain and snow stay as Minecraft makes them.
- The calendar counts the world's days (sleeping moves it on); setting the clock back never sends the year back to spring.
/hvac seasonshows where you are. Admins canset <season> [day],next, pauseandresume.
- Altitude: 0.1 °F colder for every block above y=64, about 14 °F at y=200. High up, rain turns to snow where Minecraft snows.
- Underground: from 4 blocks down (complete at 20) the air holds the ground's steady temperature, with no day/night swing, seasons or weather.
Screens and control menus
- Screens: every EZvac sign gets a floating, lit panel with more room than its four lines.
- A thermostat's shows the room, what it's doing (
❄ Cooling to 70.0°F), a capacity bar, the ETA, humidity, the outdoors and the season. - Sensors, units, hubs, RPM monitors and settings panels have their own.
- The sign stays behind it, so Bedrock players through Geyser still read it.
displays.screens: falseturns them off.
- A thermostat's shows the room, what it's doing (
- Control menus: right-click a thermostat sign to change its target.
- +5 / -5, +1 / -1 and +0.1 / -0.1, in the server's units, never past the allowed range.
- A lever for on/off.
- Dehumidifiers and humidifiers get +5% / -5%.
- Everyone with
ezvac.usecan change targets this way. Signs can no longer be edited.
- °F or °C, server wide:
units: F|Cdecides how every temperature is shown and typed.72For22Calways works. A config withhud.units: Cstarts withunits: C. - The HUD shows the season, with
{season}and{season_day}and the%ezvac_season%and%ezvac_season_day%placeholders.
For addons: the EZvac API (1.1)
Addons are ordinary Paper plugins with depend: [EZvac]. The API is on JitPack as com.github.EZvac-Plugin.EZvac:ezvac-api:ALPHA-2.1.
- Read the climate at any spot or around any player, thermostats and their systems, dehumidifiers, humidifiers and the seasons. Everything is an immutable snapshot.
- Events fire when a player's climate updates, a system changes mode, a target changes, equipment starts or stops, or a season turns. They cost nothing without an addon listening.
- HUD sections: addons can add their own lines to the climate HUD.
- They go where a sidebar line is
{addons}, or{section:<id>}for one. hud.sections.hiddenswitches one off, and/hvac hud sectionslists them.- Your own lines always fit: an addon section that would pass the sidebar's 15 lines is left out.
- They go where a sidebar line is
- The first addon is LiveExposure: body temperature for survival players, now with a meter on the HUD.
The guide, with a complete example addon, is in docs/api.md. Everything is in the changelog.
Requires Paper 1.21.1 or a fork such as Purpur, on Java 21.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
