trying to place a blueprint will fail and a message in the chat will mention the missing materials and quantities

a blueprint that has been created can still be turned left, right, mirrored or flipped upside down.

HE - select
the visual box will help select the area to turn into a blueprint. Its also possible to preview similarly where it will be placed and there is an option to setup a supplies box for materials for bigger blueprints
