LegacyVelocity

adds Velocity modern forwarding to Spigot/Paper 1.8.8 servers. Velocity sends the player’s real IP, UUID and skin to the backend in a signed message. LegacyVelocity verifies the signature with your forwarding secret, applies the data to the login, and blocks anyone who connects without the proxy. Players keep their proper UUID and skins, and backend servers can’t be joined directly.

Requirements

Spigot or Paper 1.8.8, online-mode=false Velocity with player-info-forwarding-mode = "modern" The same secret in config.yml as in Velocity’s forwarding.secret

Important

If your server runs on Java 9 or newer, set use-native-transport=false in server.properties. The old networking code in 1.8.8 crashes on newer Java without it. Do not put ViaVersion on the Velocity proxy, Its not even recommended by ViaVersion. It drops the forwarding reply for 1.8 servers. Put ViaVersion on the 1.8.8 server itself instead. Firewall the backend port so only the proxy can reach it.
