LexEnderman
An Enderman encounter with a different kind of opening.
LexEnderman adds a configurable scare sequence to Enderman aggression. Before the chase begins, the Enderman disappears, the player's vision is obscured by Blindness, and the mob reappears face-to-face. It plays its scream animation, then teleports behind the player.
The scare is configurable, and the chase can become more dangerous over time through progressive movement speed.
Requirements: Paper / Purpur 1.21.11 · Java 21 Type: Server-side plugin
Features
Enderman Scare
The encounter is built around a timed sequence of effects, movement and sound:
- Enderman invisibility before the reveal
- Player Blindness, maintained throughout the scare
- Face-to-face positioning, with adjustable player elevation
- Vanilla
ENTITY_ENDERMAN_SCREAMsound and screaming animation - Optional player camera lock and Enderman gaze lock
- Player and Enderman freezing during the encounter
- Optional glowing effect
- Configurable teleport positioning
- Safe teleport location search
- Teleport behind the player when the scare ends
One Scare per Enderman
By default, each Enderman can trigger the sequence only once. The plugin stores this state directly on the mob, allowing it to return to normal behavior after the encounter.
Set only-once-per-enderman to false to allow the sequence to trigger repeatedly.
Progressive Chase Speed
LexEnderman can increase an Enderman's movement speed while it continuously pursues its target. The acceleration can be tuned to suit the difficulty and pacing of your server.
Available settings:
- Starting speed multiplier
- Speed increase per step
- Maximum speed multiplier
- Speed increase interval
- Chase update interval
- Whether acceleration requires the scare to occur first
The feature can be disabled independently of the scare sequence.

Design
LexEnderman keeps the Enderman as a vanilla mob. It adds a controlled sequence before the chase, then lets the encounter continue through Minecraft's usual gameplay.
The idea is simple: make the moment before an Enderman attacks just as memorable as the chase itself.
