Connect is a plugin for Minecraft servers and proxies that gives your server a public address players can join, without port forwarding, a public IP address, or a domain of your own.
Your server never has to accept an incoming connection. The plugin makes an outgoing connection to Minekube's network, and players' connections are carried back to your server over it. That is why a server on a home connection, a laptop, or a machine whose router you do not control is reachable the same way a hosted one is.
Players join with an ordinary Minecraft client. There is nothing for them to install.
What you get
- A public address for your server. The plugin prints it to your console when the server starts.
- Players are authenticated before they reach you, so an online-mode server stays online-mode.
- Bedrock players can join at the same address as Java players, without Geyser or Floodgate on your side and without opening a UDP port. By default, Connect only admits Bedrock players whose Microsoft/Xbox account is linked to a Java account. Ask Minekube to enable unlinked Bedrock accounts for your endpoint; there is no self-service switch.
- Your own domain, if you want one, can point at the server instead.
Installing
Put the jar in your plugins folder and start the server. The address appears in the console.
There is a separate jar per platform — take the one matching what you run from the downloads page below.
Two things to know before you start:
- If your server runs in online mode, one setting has to be turned off before players can finish joining. The setup guide gives the exact line for each platform.
- If you run a login or auth plugin, read the login-plugin guide first. Connect authenticates players before they reach your server, and a plugin that insists on authenticating them a second time will leave them stuck on the loading screen with no error.
Where your players' connections go
Player traffic is carried by Minekube's network, which this plugin connects out to. This is not a self-contained plugin. Servers reachable this way are also listed in Minekube's in-game server browser, and players who try to join while your server is offline are sent there instead. The plans page covers that and what else the plans include.
