Build 1.3 — More Animals & Natural Resources
ShearMaster now supports 19 selected animal types with real baby forms and natural Minecraft resources. The new default configuration provides 25 suitable shear/slice actions. Harvest an adult using the appropriate tool, then let it grow up again.
Animals and resources
- Shear and slice: cows, mooshrooms, sheep, chickens, rabbits and hoglins.
- Shear: horses, donkeys, mules, llamas, trader llamas, striders, armadillos and turtles.
- Slice: pigs, squid, glow squid, nautiluses and goats.
- The default drops use existing resources: leather, meat, wool, feathers, rabbit hides, mushrooms, string, ink, shells, scutes and goat horns.
- Horse beef and llama wool are removed from the new default configuration. Unsupported animals and unsuitable actions cannot be enabled through commands or configuration.
Details that match the animal
- Sheep drop wool in their own colour. Already-sheared sheep cannot be sheared again until they have wool.
- Mooshrooms drop red or brown mushrooms to match their variant and remain mooshrooms after harvesting.
- Goat slicing removes one existing horn, with the instrument selected for that goat. Hornless goats cannot be harvested; this plugin does not regrow horns.
- Turtle shearing awards the scute immediately and suppresses the next growth scute, preventing a second reward for the same cycle. This tracking survives server restarts.
- Nautilus shells have a 5% default chance. A failed roll still turns the animal into a baby and consumes the action, preventing repeated free attempts.
- Harvesting keeps the same animal, including its name, variant, taming and equipment.
Configuration and commands
- Each loot entry now accepts an optional
chancefrom0.0to1.0. Entries without it remain guaranteed. Loot amounts and XP are still configured separately for each action. - Tab completion suggests only suitable actions for the selected animal.
- The permission and interaction fixes developed after Build 1.1 are included:
shearmaster.useis enforced, toggle permission works without full admin access, and commands work from the console. - Already-cancelled interactions and offhand interactions are skipped. Invalid loot settings leave the animal and tool unchanged.
- Slicing uses a short sword-sweep sound; shearing keeps the familiar snip. Sounds play at the animal after a completed action.
Updating
Back up your JAR and configuration, stop the server, replace the old JAR with ShearMaster-1.3.0.jar, and start again. Keep only one ShearMaster JAR in the plugins folder.
Compare your existing configuration with the new config.yml to adopt the full resource selection, particularly the changed horse and llama settings. Explicit existing loot and XP settings are preserved; replacing the JAR alone does not rewrite custom loot. Legacy Build 1.0 settings still migrate to the per-action format. Unsupported species/actions remain blocked regardless of old enabled values.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
