Highroller & Delirious Origins & Kairockian & Marzian & Thresher Shark
A custom Minecraft Fabric mod adding unique, highly interactive playstyles to the Origins ecosystem.
The Highroller
Driven from the sprawling, velvet-lined casinos of a forgotten desert empire, the Highroller is no stranger to taking astronomical risks. They once wagered their own soul against the house and won—only to be exiled with pockets full of emeralds and a price on their head. Now, they wander the Overworld, viewing every encounter as just another spin of the roulette wheel. Accustomed to the finer things, they disdain heavy combat gear, preferring to talk their way out of trouble or rely on sheer, unadulterated luck when the odds are stacked against them.
Advantages
- Lucky Streak: Innate fortune on your side, granting passive Fortune I, Looting I, and a +2 Base Luck boost.
- Adrenaline Rush: Always chasing the next high, giving you a permanent 40% speed boost.
- Dodgy: A 50% chance to completely negate incoming damage—but only if you are unarmored or wearing leather. (This drops to a 10% chance if wearing iron armor or higher).
- Smooth Talker: A passive silver tongue that guarantees you permanent discounts on all villager trades.
Disadvantages
- Soft Hands: Unaccustomed to physical labor and heavy combat, you have 2 fewer hearts of maximum health.
- Gambler's Fatigue: The high stress of the gamble takes its toll, doubling your hunger exhaustion rate.
- Paper Money: Water ruins your riches and causes physical distress. You take continuous damage while submerged in water or standing in the rain.
- All In: You go all-in on every hand. You are physically unable to equip a shield in your off-hand.
The Delirious
A challenging psychological survival origin representing a mind slowly descending into madness. Being in darkness accelerates your insanity, while light and rest recover it.
Insanity Thresholds & Mechanics
- Lunatic Mind: Insanity slowly rises by 1 point every 15 seconds under normal conditions. Being in absolute darkness (light level < 5) accelerates this (+1 point every 5 seconds). Standing in bright light (light level >= 12) or sleeping in a bed recovers your sanity.
- Visual Distortions (40+ Insanity): Your vision darkens at the edges and gains a retro CRT-style scanline distortion.
- Crooked Movement & Night Vision (50+ Insanity): You sway side-to-side while walking forward, but gain perfect Night Vision in absolute darkness.
- Auditory Hallucinations (60+ Insanity): You hear phantom sound effects (creeper fusses, zombie growls, skeleton footsteps, chest openings, or cave noises) nearby.
- Dynamic Heartbeat & Neutrality (75+ Insanity): A dynamic heartbeat sound effect plays, accelerating and getting louder as you approach 100% insanity. Standard undead mobs (Zombies and Skeletons) become neutral to you.
- Silhouette Vision & Corrupted Skin (80+ Insanity): Other entities render as solid black silhouettes with their armor completely hidden. Your own skin shifts to a corrupted dark purple model with glowing red eyes.
- Hysteria (90+ Insanity): Your camera shakes slightly, but you gain massive combat boosts: +20% Speed, +2 Attack Damage, and 100% Knockback Resistance. Killing mobs heals you, and weaker mobs (like passive animals or low-health enemies) run away from you in terror.
Experimental Origins
Vocaloid
A unique performance-based mechanic combining real-time pitch detection with audio playback:
- In-Game Radio Player: Access an in-game GUI to play customized music tracks.
- Real-time Pitch Matching: Turn on your microphone to sing along! The mod detects your voice pitch and checks if it matches the lead melody.
- Performance Combo: Sing in-key to build up a combo counter (up to 100) shown on your HUD, which syncs to the server to unlock gameplay changes.
- Karaoke HUD: Displays real-time scrolling lyrics on your screen while a song is playing.
Stifled
A high-difficulty, sensory-override experience based around blind navigation:
- Total Blindness: You are permanently blind, rendering your entire screen pitch black.
- Echolocation & Sonar: Utilize game sounds or speak into your Simple Voice Chat microphone to emit expanding sonar waves.
- Sound Mapping: The sonar waves temporarily highlight the outlines of surrounding blocks, terrain, and entities, letting you map out your environment entirely through audio feedback.
Shader Incompatibilities
Custom Shaders (Iris / Oculus / OptiFine): Because this mod utilizes vanilla post-processing pipelines for custom visual states (like the Delirious CRT distortion/vignette and the Stifled pitch-black blindness), these visual effects will not display if you have a custom shaderpack enabled.
Gameplay mechanics, sound effects, sways, and entity outline highlights will still function perfectly. To see the full visual distortions, you must set your custom shaderpack to Off or Internal.
