Pumps & Pistons
Pump it. Refine it. Move it.
Pumps & Pistons is a survival-focused Fabric fuel ecosystem. Survey for finite underground oil, extract crude with a compact pumpjack, refine petrol and diesel, move liquids in reusable cans and build a working service station around the whole process.
The core is fully standalone. It does not require a vehicle mod and does not alter terrain generation.
Fuel loop
- Use the reusable Petroleum Survey Kit to inspect the current oil-field region and its neighbours.
- Place a redstone-powered Compact Oil Pumpjack inside a discovered field and collect crude in its 100 L buffer.
- Move crude in a refillable 20 L jerry can.
- Process 10 L batches in the Compact Fuel Refinery using ordinary furnace fuel.
- Choose petrol-focused, balanced or diesel-focused yields and collect useful bitumen residue.
- Store up to 400 L in a designated AUTO, PETROL or DIESEL service pump.
Oil fields are deterministic, finite and shared by every pumpjack in the same region. Their reserves persist with the world. There is no placed ore, chunk forcing, offline extraction or background terrain mutation.
Station kit
The included forecourt kit supports anything from one rural roadside pump to a larger multiplayer service area:
- live analogue service-pump gauge, fuel lamp and comparator output;
- walkable canopy panels and warm lit panels;
- connected columns and seamless neutral, PETROL and DIESEL fascia runs;
- bollards, wheel stops, low kerbs and flush drain grates;
- two-block roadside pylons and directional canopy floodlights.
Decorative blocks use static states rather than ticking block entities, keeping larger builds lightweight.
Integrations
The matching Pumps & Pistons: Automobility module connects this fuel economy to Automobility with persistent vehicle tanks, deliberate refuelling, realistic consumption and a coordinated dashboard. The core remains usable on its own and is designed to support more transport integrations later.
Field manual
The seven-sheet visual guide explains surveying, extraction, refinery ports and yields, storage, vehicle refuelling, consumption and the dashboard. It is included in English, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Norwegian Bokmal, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Requirements
- Minecraft Java 26.2
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
- Fabric API 0.153.0+26.2 or newer
- Java 25
- install on the server and every connecting client
Upgrading
Version 1.9 establishes the final pumps_and_pistons namespace. Remove every old monolithic or split 1.8 JAR before installing 1.9. Do not mix the two generations. Old 1.8 block, item, configuration and reservoir identifiers are not migrated; existing AutoFuel* vehicle tank data remains compatible through the matching 1.9 Automobility integration.
