Know what is inside every shulker box without opening it. Rename a shulker box after a block or item, and a small symbol of that block or item appears in the top left corner of its icon.
Features
- Works with every block and item: 1,595 in total, using the English name (like
Iron Ingot) or the item ID (likeiron_ingot) - German names for 342 common items, like
Diamant,EisenbarrenorWerkbank - 44 categories such as Rockets, Totems, Food, Valuables, Armor, Tools, Wood, Redstone or Potions, in English and German
- Many spellings are understood: upper and lower case,
ue,oeandaefor umlauts, spaces, underscores and hyphens, and extras likeShulkerorBox(for exampleRockets Shulker) - Blocks show as small 3D cubes, items as flat icons, and potions keep their color
- Works with all 17 shulker box colors
- The symbol only appears in GUI views like the inventory and the hotbar. In your hand and in the world the shulker box looks like vanilla
My personal use case
I made this pack for my own use. I sort my storage with colored shulker boxes: red for rockets, yellow for totems, brown for food and orange for expensive things like diamonds. I also have one for armor and one for tools. I named all of them after what is inside. The colors give me the rough sorting, and the symbol shows me the exact content at a glance, even when I have many boxes in a chest.
How it works
The pack replaces the item definitions of the shulker boxes. In GUI views, it checks the custom name of the box and puts the symbol on top of the normal shulker icon. In every other view, and for every name it does not know, the vanilla model is used.
Good to know
- The name has to match a supported name. Otherwise the shulker box keeps its normal icon
- German names exist for common items only. For all others, use the English name or the item ID
- If a name could be both an item and a category, the item wins
- Items without a normal item icon show no symbol. These are chests, banners, heads, decorated pots, conduits and copper golem statues
- The pack files are large, so reloading resource packs can take a moment
- If you use another pack that changes shulker box models, move this pack above it in the pack list
Installation
- Download the file
- Put the .zip into your
resourcepacksfolder (do not unzip it) - Enable the pack in Options > Resource Packs
- Rename a shulker box at an anvil, for example to
Diamond, and look at the icon - If you change the pack while the game is running, reload with F3 + T
Compatibility
- Minecraft Java Edition, see the supported game versions on this page
- Client side only, no mod or loader needed
- Resolution: 16x
