🏔️ EightPeaksVent - Rock Climbing & Mountain Expeditions
EightPeaksVent is a hardcore, atmospheric plugin for Paper 1.21.11+ servers that turns conquering mountain peaks into a true survival challenge. Features realistic rock climbing mechanics, dynamic stamina depletion, ice axes, crampons, grappling hooks, high-altitude winds with snowstorms, an anemometer device, base camps with checkpoint systems, and expedition gear!
🧗♂️ Conquer the impregnable Eight Peaks - or fall into the abyss.
🌟 Key Features
- ⛏️ Full-Fledged Climbing Mechanics: Scale sheer cliffs using an ice axe and crampons. Latch onto ledges to catch your breath, and automatically vault over wall edges (Ledge Vaulting).
- ⚡ Dynamic Stamina System: Your vanilla EXP bar smoothly transforms into a stamina indicator. Deplete energy while climbing and recover it while resting or hanging from cliffs. When unequipping gear, your vanilla XP is restored with zero loss!
- 🪝 Grappling Hook: Cross chasms and ravines using a grappling hook with up to a 7-block range, complete with a cooldown timer in the Action Bar.
- 💨 High-Altitude Winds & Blizzards: Snowstorms automatically start within mountain zones. Gusts of wind periodically sweep through, knocking players off balance. The higher you climb, the fiercer the wind and the longer the storm!
- 🧭 Hotbar Anemometer: Equipping crampons places an anemometer device in your 9th inventory slot. Green light - safe and calm. Red light - danger! Storm winds will blow you off the cliff; lock onto the wall immediately!
- ⛺ Expedition Base Camps: Customizable 3D camp zones. Entering a camp automatically sets your spawn point there. Upon falling or dying, you return to the last camp reached instead of the world spawn!
- 🎒 NPC Guide & Backpack Integration: A special invincible NPC guide in camp equips mountaineers with an expedition backpack (CryBackpacks), pre-stocked with gear, water, and food.
- 🪙 Expedition Currency: Gold Marks (Gold Marka Westmarka) used for trading and rewards for conquering dangerous routes.
🎮 Gameplay & Mountaineer's Guide
1. Preparing for the Climb
- Approach the Guide (Equipment) at base camp and Right-Click them.
- You will receive an expedition backpack containing:
- Ice Axe (Iron Pickaxe) - tool for latching and ascending.
- Crampons (Iron Boots) - specialized spiked boots.
- Grappling Hook (Carrot on a Stick) - tool for dashing to ledges.
- Bread and water supplies.
- Equip the Crampons. An Anemometer will immediately appear in your 9th inventory slot.
2. Climbing Technique
- Ascending (Climbing): Equip crampons, hold the ice axe in hand, walk up against a vertical wall, hold Shift (Sneak), and press Right-Click. Your character will climb steadily up the cliff face, consuming stamina.
- Ledge Vaulting: Reaching the top edge of a cliff automatically vaults your character forward onto the platform.
- Latching / Resting on Cliffs (Holding): If stamina runs low or a storm hits, hold Shift and Left-Click (attack/animation) against the wall. Your character will drive the ice axe into the rock, switch it to the off-hand, and lock in place:
- Gravity turns off - you hang suspended above the abyss.
- Wind gusts cannot blow you off while holding onto the cliff!
- Stamina slowly starts recovering.
- Exhaustion: If stamina drops to 0, exhaustion kicks in. You cannot climb until stamina recovers to at least 50%, and stamina recovery while hanging on a wall is halved!
- Resting on Ground: Standing on solid ground restores stamina at maximum speed.
3. Wind and the Anemometer
- Keep an eye on your 9th inventory slot:
- 🟢 Lime Block: Wind is calm. Safe to climb.
- 🔴 Red Block: A fierce gust of wind has hit! Players in open areas will be swept toward the edge.
- How to survive: Immediately lock onto the wall (Shift + Left-Click) or hide behind a rocky overhang!
4. Grappling Hook
- Hold the grappling hook and Right-Click while aiming at a block within 7 blocks.
- You will be pulled toward the target point with acceleration.
- Cooldown is 30 seconds (a timer is displayed above the Action Bar).
5. Camps and Checkpoints
- Intermediate base camps are situated along the path to the summit.
- Upon entering a camp zone, a chat notification appears:
[Camp] Checkpoint updated. If you fall, you will return to <Camp Name>. - If you fall and die, you respawn directly in that tent/camp, preserving your climbing progress.
🛠️ Administrator Guide: Setup & Mountain Creation
Step 1: Creating a Mountain Region
Mountain regions activate constant snowfall and high-altitude wind physics.
- Stand in the lower corner of the mountain area and type:
/epv mountain pos1 - Ascend to the opposite upper corner at the summit and type:

Step 2: Creating Base Camps
- Select the camp boundary coordinates:
/epv camp pos1 /epv camp pos2 - Stand at the exact location where players should respawn (e.g., next to a bed in a tent) and type:
/epv camp save Camp1
(To remove a camp, use /epv camp remove <name>).
Step 3: Spawning the NPC Guide
- Stand in the starting base camp at the foot of the mountain.
