Villager Awakening is a mod that enhances Vanilla villagers, adding culture, speech and personality. Now all villages feel like a living, breathing community.
✨ Key Features
- Dynamic Personalities: Villagers and wandering traders now spawn with one of 6 unique personalities, which provides a unique identity to each villager and governs its interactions with the player.
- Cultural Identity: Each culture now has a shared identity and provides dynamic speech opportunities based on their culture.
- Culturally Accurate Names: Each villager now spawns with a custom name that reflects their specific culture.
- Massive Speechbank: Villagers now have a speechbank of over 1000+ dynamic lines of dialogue.
- Reactive Environments: Villagers now comment on themselves, their personality, their culture, the player, and current world conditions using 30+ custom conditions.
- Smart Interactions: Villagers actively recognize you, themselves, and even adapt to your preferred gender!
⚙️ Compatibility & Configuration
- Flexible Display: Speech may be displayed in custom speech bubbles, in chat, or both!
- Fully Configurable: All features in this mod are fully configurable. Tweak them to fit your playstyle.
- Mod Friendly: Fully compatible with most shader mods and modded villagers. (Note: Some specific conditions may not trigger on modded villagers, but they will still speak.)

Q. Can I use this mod in my modpack?A. Yes, as long as you provide credit and a link back to this page.
Q. How do I change my preferred gender?
A. You can either change the value in the mod's client config file, or you can change it directly within the game, by going to Mods/Villager Awakening/Client Config/Speech Display. Note that preferred gender and other options within Speech Display are changed per player, not per world.
