Moon

Moon is a moderation plugin for Paper servers. Players report from a menu, staff punish from a menu, and every action shows up on a dashboard at moonhq.net with who did it and why.

The free plan includes a licence key, and you can set it up in a few minutes.

Why Moon

  • You can see what your staff are doing. Every ban, mute, kick and warning goes into a log on the dashboard, so if someone abuses their rank you'll know.
  • The chat filter is hard to dodge. It catches swapped letters, lookalike letters and spaced-out words, and leaves normal words like "Nigeria" alone. Staff see the message that was actually typed.
  • Punishments follow the player. A ban on one server applies across your network, and alt detection points out the accounts they come back on.
  • Players get a clear screen. Kick, ban and mute screens say why in plain words, show when a timed ban ends, and only show an appeal link if you've set one.
  • You can run it from your browser. Handle reports, set up ranks and roles, review appeals and look up player history from the dashboard.

Commands

All commands also work as /moon <command>. Any shortcut can be switched off under commands.aliases in the config.

Setup

  1. Make a free account at moonhq.net and copy your licence key from the dashboard.
  2. Put the jar in your plugins/ folder and start the server.
  3. Paste the key into plugins/Moon/config.yml and restart.

When you update, delete the old Moon jar but keep the plugins/Moon/ folder. That's where your config and key are.

What Moon sends to moonhq.net

Moon needs moonhq.net to work. It sends:

  • Punishments and reports (who, why and when)
  • Chat messages, if you turn on the chat filter
  • Player names and UUIDs
  • Licence checks

Moon prints this list in your console every time it starts. Streaming the console to the dashboard is off unless you turn it on.
