Simple Voice Chat doesn't work over e4mc on its own. e4mc tunnels the Minecraft connection, but Simple Voice Chat talks over a separate UDP port that the tunnel can't carry. This mod sends the voice packets through the Minecraft connection instead, so voice works in an e4mc world without forwarding port 24454.
Simple Voice Chat itself isn't changed. Proximity, groups, push-to-talk, voice activation and its encryption all work the same as on a normal server.
Installing
Host: Fabric API, Simple Voice Chat, e4mc (the Fabric Modern build) and this mod.
Everyone joining: Fabric API, Simple Voice Chat and this mod. They don't need e4mc.
Open your world to LAN, send your friends the address e4mc posts in chat, and have them join with it. There's nothing to configure.
Settings
By default the bridge is only used for players who join through e4mc. Anyone connecting directly, like someone on your home network, keeps using normal UDP. You can change this with bridge in config/e4mc_voice_bridge.properties:
auto: the default described abovealways: everyone with the mod uses the bridge, for servers where the UDP port can't be reachednever: don't use the bridge at all
Operators can run /e4mcvoice status to check how many players are bridged and whether voice packets are getting through.
Versions
- Minecraft 26.3: 1.1.0
- Minecraft 26.2: 1.0.2
Known issue
Because voice rides on the Minecraft connection, a burst of chunk loading or a shaky connection can delay it a little, which wouldn't happen with direct UDP.
