Realistic Tornado Disasters adds tornadoes with volumetric funnels, flying debris, and destruction that increases with storm strength. Custom shaders give the funnels cloud density and lighting.
This project was heavily inspired by Proton Manly's Weather Mod. It is my own attempt at the idea, with a focus on funnels that have depth and look heavy on the horizon. It is still a work in progress.
Storm strength
- F1 pushes loose items around and knocks you back.
- F2 and F3 can pick up mobs, tear off roofs, and break weaker blocks such as wood and leaves.
- F4 and F5 darken the sky, bring lightning, and tear through almost any block. Getting caught in one can send you flying.
Blocks pulled from the ground become falling debris. They spiral around the funnel before being thrown out. Tornadoes crossing water also pull it up and create splashes.
Performance and bugs
The volumetric effects can be demanding, especially if you use other shaders. A capable graphics card helps.
You may run into bugs even in files marked as releases. If the physics or visuals behave strangely, please report it in the comments or issue tracker.
