More Minecraft in Minecraft

When I was a kid, every time Minecraft updated and we got more content, was like Christmas! But the game updated slowly. Then when eventually spin-offs like Minecraft Story Mode came out and added more 'lore' outside of the base game, I was obsessed with all the new mobs and items we could get in Minecraft!

But the content from spin-off games never came.

The distinct lack of story and lore in Minecraft, in contrast to the really deep lore in games like Minecraft Dungeons or Mc Legends, was exactly what I needed to make Barely Default.

Instead of complaining about any amount of content updates for a game I paid for once, I decided to do something about it, and connect all the Minecraft canon, as vanilla as possible.

Barely Default is what I think Minecraft deserves to be, without disrespecting Mojang's vision for the artstyle.

After releasing my first 'Better Minecraft' pack in 2011, what's known now as "Barely Default" is densely packed with content from as many official Minecraft related universes I could find!

• Minecraft Story Mode
• Minecraft Dungeons
• Minecraft Earth
• Minecraft Legends
• April Fools Updates
• Super Smash Bros Ultimate
• Bedrock Marketplace content marked as "by Minecraft"
• The Minecraft YouTube channel

And anything else I could find I deem 'canon'

On top of that Barely Default also graphically updates any part of the artstyle that feel left-behind after Mojang's style has developed over the years. I'm taking the prettiest most detailed limits of the vanilla artstyle, and applying it everywhere that needs it. This makes your Minecraft world a lot more interesting and refreshing, while also keeping it familiar!
