⚪ Class 717 — Great Northern (6-Car Formations)

Built specifically for Great Northern’s high-density suburban commuter routes out of Moorgate into Hertfordshire, the Class 717 has a very unique real-world job: running at speed under $25\text{ kV AC}$ wires on the East Coast Main Line before diving into the tight, subterranean tube tunnels of the Northern City Line.

🎛️ The Emergency Tunnel Cab & Pantograph

• Front Emergency Evacuation Door: Unlike the 700 and 707, the Class 717 features a center-opening front cab door and fold-out evacuation stairs required for single-bore deep-level tunnel safety into Moorgate.
• Working Overhead Pantograph: Modeled on the motor coach for high-speed running between Finsbury Park, Welwyn Garden City, and Stevenage before the train drops its pan for third-rail running into the tunnels.

• Full Standard-Class Layout: Just like the real fleet (which has no First Class to maximize passenger flow), the entire 6-car rake is configured for heavy metro commuter traffic.
