Hearthlight
An atmospheric Vanilla+ shaderpack focused on dynamic weather-based moods, low-end performance, and simplicity.
Simplicity as the Key Idea
Hearthlight avoids over-complicated tech like ray tracing, heavy path tracing, or blinding eye-adaptation loops. Instead, it relies on light math, depth fog, and clean color science to make Minecraft feel grounded and cinematic without destroying frame rate.
- Atmospheric Sunlight & Sky Focus: The sky and natural sun/moon vectors do the heavy lifting for world depth.
- Natural Dynamic Weather: Fog density and saturation scale naturally across different weather conditions, giving every biome and storm its own unique feel.
- No Blinding Eye Simulation: No sudden brightness ramping when leaving caves or looking at sunsets; visual depth is handled through environmental atmosphere.
Core Features
- High-Distance Shadow Coverage: Optimized lighting so shadows extend naturally to the horizon without steep cutoff lines.
- Translucent block Light Filtering: Translucent blocks like honey or tinted glass filter light color passing through them.
- Deep Underwater Mood: Atmospheric teal depth fog and underwater light scattering turn oceans into vast, quiet environments.
Performance
- Designed to run smoothly on low-end hardware and integrated graphics.
- Note: my trash pc runs at default settings at 8 chunks render and shadow distance, stable at 40fps(30 at complex scenes) in 1920x1080px resolution, compared to other shaders with similar style and potato settings.
