NostaLens

A custom shader pack for Minecraft. This pack requires OptiFine or Iris Shaders to work.

Features

  • Fisheye Lens Effect
    • A wide-angle lens effect that distorts towards the edges of the screen. Player arms and held items remain undistorted for playability.
  • Nostalgic Color Grading
    • Slightly increased vibrance with a warm, faded, nostalgic tone.
  • Subtle Analog/VHS Noise
    • Chromatic Aberration: Recreates the optical phenomenon where red and blue colors shift at the edges of the screen.
    • Scanlines: Faint horizontal lines resembling old CRT monitors.
    • Tracking Noise & Film Grain: Extremely subtle screen jitter and fine film grain that do not interfere with gameplay.
  • Soft Shadows
    • Features cool-toned ambient shadows and smooth PCF soft shadows.

Installation

  1. Install OptiFine or Iris Shaders for Minecraft.
  2. Place the downloaded ZIP file (do not extract it) into your Minecraft shaderpacks folder.
    • Example: %appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpacks
  3. Go to Video Settings > Shaders in-game, select this shader pack, and apply it.

Customization

You can tweak the settings by opening shaders/final.fsh in a text editor. Modify the following values at the top of the file:

  • STRENGTH = 0.2; // Fisheye intensity (higher values increase distortion)
  • VIGNETTE = 0.4; // Vignette darkness (higher values make corners darker)
