Versioning Update & Correction:
Why the change?
I originally intended to release the next update as v3.2.0 (a minor version bump), but it contains breaking changes, including:
- Pack format updates that made it incompatible with Minecraft 1.21.4
- New recipes, which use items that are not present in Minecraft 1.21.4
- A recipe removal.
According to semantic versioning, these changes should have warranted a major version bump - v4.0.0 instead of v3.2.0.
What’s changing?
- The next update will be v4.0.0 instead of v3.2.0.
- Future releases will properly follow semantic versioning to prevent confusion.
What should you do?
- If you are already using the v3.2.0 betas, no action is required - just be aware of the breaking changes.
- If you are updating from v3.1.0 or earlier, treat the v3.2.0 betas as v4.0.0 betas.
- Every version changelog lists the compatible versions of Minecraft at the bottom, so make sure you read them!
- Going forward, I will make these more visible with their own headings.
Thank you for your patience as I work to improve versioning consistency! With Mojang’s more frequent data pack updates and release cycles over the past year, keeping versions aligned has been a bit tricky. I hope that following semantic versioning will make things clearer moving forward.

Why v3.0.0?
- v2.1.0 should’ve been v3.0.0 due to significant changes in how the data pack functions for Minecraft Java 1.21.2. It was not a content update.
- This release removes some functionality, which could also be considered a breaking change as the expected behaviour of the pack is changed.
- Going forward, it’s likely that the major version will be bumped much more frequently, mostly due to the new Minecraft update cycle.
Changelog:
- Updated links to issues & source code
- The latest compatible version of Minecraft is now listed in the mod file name
- Example: BetterCraftables_v3.0.0+mod_mc1.21.3.jar
- The following recipes have been removed and placed into the new Better Unpackables mod:
- Amethyst Block → Amethyst Shards
- Glowstone Block → Glowstone Dust
- Stone → Cobblestone
- Deepslate → Cobbled Deepslate
- Wool → String
- If you wish to use these recipes but don't want to install another mod, you can still use v2.1.0+mod. Just keep in mind that these recipes will not be available in upcoming releases of Better Craftables for future versions of Minecraft.
This version is compatible with Minecraft Java 1.21.2 - 1.21.3.
