This update adds a new enchantment and two new advancements
- Surge: Enchantment for swords that gives you attack and range bonusses based on a combo, incompatible with most damage/reach related enchantments
- Fully Hardened: An advancement gained by giving a nautilus a piece of nautilus armor with Hardening IV
- Combo Master: An advancement gained by reaching a combo of 100 with the Surge enchantment
Added 2 new enchantments:
- Hardening: Enchantment for Nautilus Armor that gives protection to all types of damage
- Swift Soar: Enchantment for harnesses that gives the Happy Ghast more flight speed
Both of these enchantments are treasure enchantments like Mending. Both can be obtained by trading with villagers. Hardening is also found on Nautilus Armor in chests.
Enchantment changes compared to the legacy version
Big Hands: The idea that made me start making datapacks in the first place. I did not really see anything wrong with this one.
- Unchanged
Hasty Hits: This one was far too overpowered, so I halved its level 3 effect.
- Renamed to: Swift Swing
- Effect post level 1 decreased 10% -> 2.5%
- Can now be put on spears
Curse of Heaviness: I did not really like how if you had CoH III you were still able to jump one full block (albeit exactly one full block), so I increased the gravity to the smallest roundish number I could come up with.
- Knockback resistance post level 1 decreased 10% -> 5%
- Gravity at level 1 increased 10% -> 15%
Curse of Breaking:
- Unchanged
Disappearance: A funny idea for sure, but very impractical. I might bring this one back, but I am not very certain about it yet.
- Removed
Desert Runner: When I made this enchantment I did not realise that this being found in deserts renders camels quite useless, especially since you can craft saddles now. Because of this I decided to remove this enchantment entirely. I also decided to remove Snow Speed, since it was quite buggy with single snow layers and I was not a big fan of how it worked (which it barely did in the first place).
- Removed
Healthy: Due to the issue of armor being extremely expensive when it comes to levels. I decided it would be best to tone healthy down a bit. My idea was to put it on a chestplate, so that Ender Heart could still have the health effect. This does mean that Ender Heart has to be buffed in return.
- Amount of hearts added increased 1 -> 2
- No longer can be put on boots, leggings or helmets
Bee’s Sting: As much as I tried to redeem this one, it was doomed to fail from the start. That’s why this remake is the perfect opportunity to get rid of it once and for all.
- Removed
Curse of Channeling: Really not a big fan of how this one worked.
- Removed
Bedrock Plating: Both this and Weakening suffered from the RNG issue. When I made this I thought it would be interesting to have this based on random chance, but it honestly just made fighting other players really annoying. For singleplayer it was not really a big issue (the datapack was originally designed for singleplayer), but in multiplayer this, together with the other RNG enchantments, did become a problem. That’s why you will see a lot of RNG-based enchantments either removed or completely reworked.
- Removed
Weakening: For the same reason as Bedrock Plating, this one is also gone.
- Removed
Snow Speed: I am not going to repeat why this one is gone, if you really want to know, check the Desert Runner section.
- Removed
Ender Heart: The way I made the regeneration work with this enchantment was very strange and I am not a big fan of how it worked, that’s why I am removing it. Maybe someday I will buff the enchantment to bring it back though.
- Removed the regeneration effect
- Each level now gives 1 heart, instead of only the second level
Strong Legs:
- Unchanged
Reach:
- Both levels nerfed 1 block -> 0.5 blocks
- Can now be put on spears
Heart of Oak:
- Removed
Last Attack: This enchantment suffered from the RNG problem, the only reason this enchantment was the way it was, is because I did not know how to do what I wanted to do with the enchantment. Now that I have more experience with making datapacks, I have been able to make my original vision with the enchantment become a reality. I will not make a detailed explanation of how the enchantment works now, instead for now I will put a simple one. You get strength based on how low your health is.
- Fully reworked
- Made it 6x less common (because I’m rebalancing the jungle temple loot table enchantments wise)
Vitamin D:
- Removed
Far Fall:
- Nerfed the base range 0.8 blocks -> 0.5 blocks
Curse of Hunger:
- Unchanged
Shotgun:
- Unchanged
Root: As much as I don’t really like this one, my friends will not like it if I remove it so it shall stay.
- Unchanged
Treasure Finder:
- Unchanged
Exoskeleton:
- No longer can be put on boots, leggings or helmets
Plate Piercing: When I made this I was not a big fan of how broken breach swapping was. Now I have simply accepted its existence so this no longer needs to exist. Also it was just really overpowered and broke the balance against any creature with armor.
- Removed
Blazing: Blazing was originally only made for pickaxes, though I thought it would be cool to allow shovels to smelt sand instantly into glass when digging.
- Can now be put on netherite shovels
- Can now smelt sand and red sand into glass
Shellsplosion:
- Can now be put on axes, maces and spears
Voiding: Voiding was originally only on pickaxes, though I feel like it would also be useful on shovels, axes and hoes. Of course that leads to a lot more affected blocks, such as the nether leaf blocks (not shroomlights though), all logs, dirt, sand etc.
- Can now be put on shovels, axes and hoes
- Has more affected blocks
- Is now incompatible with Blazing
New Enchantments:
Last Stand:
- Similar to Last Attack, but gives resistance instead
- Mutually exclusive with Last Attack, so you get the choice of more defense or more damage
Arrow Burst:
- A mace enchantment that shoots out arrows when falling from up high
- Mutually exclusive with Wind Burst because it makes the arrows go in weird directions
Other Changes:
- Nerfed the chance of finding brushes in Rooted Logs barrels
- Nerfed the amount of firework rockets as well as the chance of finding them in the Voided Island shulker (minimum-maximum:) 7-23 -> 2-13
- Nerfed the chance of finding invisibility potions in the Voided Island shulker
- Made the Voiding enchantment more common in the Voided Island shulker
