Chroma Tools & Utilities

Chroma Tools & Utilities is a Vanilla+-friendly mod that not only adds uniquely designed tools, but also introduces a range of quality-of-life features to enhance your gameplay. While it currently focuses on tools and helpful additions, the mod is planned to go far beyond that in the future — expanding into entirely new areas of gameplay and functionality. This project is part of my journey into learning Minecraft modding, and there’s much more to come. Stay tuned and enjoy!

New Tools

Chroma Tools & Utilities adds a set of unique, custom-designed tools to Minecraft. These tools are carefully balanced and designed to feel right at home in the Vanilla+ experience.

At the core of the mod is a brand-new tool material: Chromatic Tools. What makes them stand out compared to vanilla tools is their tiered progression system — divided into three distinct levels, each offering unique upgrades and cosmetic effects as you advance.

This system not only enhances gameplay variety but also brings a fresh layer of visual flair and long-term progression to your Minecraft world.

Chromatic Tools - ★☆☆

Level 1 Chromatic Tools are crafted by upgrading standard Netherite tools. They offer improved performance across the board — including increased damage, durability, and mining speed — while staying balanced within the progression of the game. These tools serve as the entry point into the Chromatic tier system and lay the foundation for future upgrades.

Chromatic Tools - ★★☆

Level 2 Chromatic Tools are crafted by upgrading Level 1 tools and serve as a refined transition tier within the Chromatic progression. While they don’t yet unlock the full potential of the Chromatic material, they provide a meaningful step forward — bridging the gap between the early enhancements of Level 1 and the powerful features of the upcoming Level 3 tools. They’re designed to keep progression smooth and rewarding, while teasing what’s still to come.

Chromatic Tools - ★★★

Level 3 Chromatic Tools are crafted by upgrading Level 2 tools and mark the pinnacle of the Chromatic progression. They introduce custom visual effects that enhance mining, block interactions, and fighting against mobs. When held in mainhand, these tools provide unique passive effects:

• Sword: Strength II
• Pickaxe: Haste II
• Axe: Invisibility
• Shovel: Speed II

New Ore

Chroma Tools & Utilities adds a new ore to the game: Chromatic Ore. It comes in both standard stone and deepslate variants. This ore is used to craft and upgrade Chromatic Tools. Chromatic Ore is very rare and is distributed in the world as follows:

• Generates between heights 16 and -64
• Generates 2 times in a chunk with a maximum vein of 4 ores

New items

Chroma Tools & Utilities adds several new items to the game. Currently, these items are used primarily to craft Chromatic Tools.

Chromatic Ingot

The Chromatic Ingot is obtained through an intermediate process from the new ore. It is comparable to a Netherite Ingot and currently serves the same purpose, crafting Chromatic Tools.

Chromatic Nugget

The Chromatic Nugget is the drop from Chromatic Ore, typically dropping 1–2 nuggets per ore block mined. It is used to craft Chromatic Ingots and to upgrade Chromatic Tools.

Chromatic Upgrade Template

The Chromatic Upgrade Template is also required to craft and upgrade Chromatic Tools. It can be found relatively rarely in Ancient Cities.

Worldgen

Chroma Tools & Utilities introduces a few world generation changes to the game — with much more planned for future updates. Currently, only a small portion of the intended content is implemented. At this stage, two biomes feature new, Vanilla+-style tree variants: one along beaches, and one in deserts.

❗Looking Ahead: Planned Content

There’s a lot more planned for the future of Chroma Tools & Utilities — from an entirely new biome and fully custom trees to unique structures and even more advanced, cooler, and more distinctive tools.

The next step is to complete the Chromatic tool set, including the hoe, armor, special items, and full compatibility with armor trims. Soon, you'll also start to find exciting new additions like trees, flowers, and even structures appearing in more and more biomes.

The current plan is to release one major content update per month, along with smaller (but still exciting!) updates in between. The next major content update is expected to arrive around the (NEW DATE: early middle of july).

I truly hope the future of this mod turns out to be something amazing — and I can't wait to share it with you.
