This small update brings several important adjustments and improvements. Achievements have been aligned with the Vanilla advancement system, and Music Discs are now fully implemented. Additionally, a major item rework has been introduced, along with several crucial bug fixes.

Items
Flight Speed Upgrade
The Flight Speed Upgrade has been completely reworked. Previously, it used a fixed base value that applied to every flying mob, which caused major inconsistencies. For example, bees became extremely slow, while ghasts moved very fast. The upgrade now adapts dynamically to each entity’s default flight speed and increases it by a percentage-based value, resulting in balanced and consistent performance for all flying entities.
- Speed Multiplier: +60%
Music Discs
Before this update, the music discs were not true music discs in code but rather regular items that poorly imitated their behavior. They have now been properly implemented as real Music Disc items, allowing them to function exactly like their Vanilla counterparts. This change also resolves all previous inconsistencies and related bugs.
Entities
Overheated CPU
A friend and I held a small contest in which each of us created a custom boss. My entry, the Overheated CPU, is now available in the game and can be spawned in Creative Mode. There is a good chance it will be officially integrated into the mod in the future, as I am very happy with the result. However, be careful — this boss is extremely difficult, so make sure to bring strong gear and a shield!! In the version currently available on Modrinth, its soundtrack does not play.
Bugs / Tech
- Flight Speed Upgrade was missing in the Inventory | fixed!
- Advancement "Flamebound Relict" is missing it's "t" (Flamebound Relic in the game) | Will be fixed next update
Future
The next update will include a small Halloween event, although it will not be as large as originally planned since I am currently working on several other mods at the same time. Nevertheless, it will still be a fun and exciting event to play. After that, we will see what comes next, the general plans have already been explained.
The update brings a complete transformation to Chroma. Shiny Items have been entirely reworked and are now known as Crystal Relicts, establishing a new foundation for the mod’s future direction. Alongside this major overhaul, a new pet has been introduced, every special item has been refined and balanced, and multiple gameplay systems have received significant improvements. Finally, all advancements have been adjusted to better reflect the new item structure and progression flow.
Crystal Relicts
Shiny Items have been completely reworked and are now known as Crystal Relicts. The former Shiny Star has been split into three distinct crystals, each with unique origins.
Verdant Shard
The Verdant Shard is the least valuable of the three crystals. It can be obtained by breaking Cactus blocks with a 0.05% (1 in 2000) chance or by breaking Kelp with a 0.0125% (1 in 8000) chance.
- Verdant Relicts:
- Explosion Core
- Flight Speed Upgrade
- Leap Feather
Crimson Shard
The Crimson Shard holds medium value among the three crystals. It can be obtained by defeating Hoglins, with a 1% (1 in 100) chance to drop.
- Crimson Relicts:
- Woodland Carver
- Wind Chime
Shadow Shard
The Shadow Shard is the rarest and most dangerous of all three crystals. It can be obtained by right-clicking an Amethyst Shard at Y level –90 in the End dimension. The shard is charged with void energy, and right-clicking it instantly kills every entity within an eight-block radius, accompanied by a new custom death message.
- Shadow Relicts:
- Eternal Torch
Enchantability
With the transformation of Shiny Items into Crystal Relicts, these items are now compatible with durability enchantments such as Unbreaking and Mending, allowing them to potentially never break again. Their enchantability value is set to 15.
Pets
A new pet has also been introduced, expanding the world into an entirely new and unexplored environment. This mysterious creature thrives in a place unlike any seen before, hinting at depths yet to be discovered.
Floaty
The new pet, Floaty, is a small robotic vessel that inhabits the water. Despite its small size, it is a powerful and dependable companion in combat. It can be tamed and healed using Lapis Lazuli. When Floaty’s health becomes low, its unique “play dead” mechanic activates, allowing it to temporarily shut down to recover before rejoining the fight.
- Health: 15
- Attack Damage: 4
- Attack Knockback: 0.8
- Play Dead Trigger HP: 6
- Play Dead Duration: 4 seconds
- Land Damage: 2/s
Floaty

Items
Leap Feather
The Leap Feather represents a new Verdant Relict, granting its user a short upward boost that allows them to clear obstacles up to three blocks high. After being used, the item requires the player to touch the ground before it can be activated again. It also provides generous protection against fall damage, making it an excellent tool for agile movement and exploration.
- Y-Boost: 0.6 ~2 blocks
- XY-Boost: 0.32
- Debounce Ticks: 6 ticks
- Fall-Grace: 25 ticks ~1.25 seconds
Gale Scepter
The Gale Scepter is the completely reworked version of the former Wind Chime. It now features two distinct attack modes. A normal right-click fires a fast wind charge that creates a sharp impact on contact. When sneaking while using the scepter, it instead launches three slower but significantly stronger projectiles with powerful impact effects. The player is now slightly pushed back upon firing, and the attack is accompanied by enhanced sounds and particle effects, making it feel far more dynamic and impactful.
- "Fast" Charge Speed: 4.0 (same as Wind Chime)
- "Strong" Charge Speed: 1.15
However, the item has received a significant nerf. The player can no longer use the wind charge to boost themselves, as any wind charge fired within close proximity to the user will no longer trigger an impact.
Woodland Carver
With this update, the Woodland Carver has been completely redesigned for the third and (final) time. It now serves as a specialized tool for efficiently gathering wood. When charged for a short moment, it destroys all wood blocks within a small radius, each having a chance to drop as an item. This makes wood farming far more convenient and enjoyable. The tool is further enhanced by refined particle effects and a polished sound design that make its use feel satisfying and powerful.
- Radius: 8 blocks
- Charge Time: 3 seconds
- Drop-Chance: 30%
Eternal Torch
The Eternal Torch has received several fundamental nerfs in this update due to its overwhelming power at the time of its original release.
- The beam no longer burns through blocks.
- Radius: 20 -> 12 blocks (40%)↓
- Base DPS: 3 -> 2 (33%)↓
- Max DPS: 48 -> 32 (33%)↓
- Growth per second: 35% -> 25% (28%)↓
- Enemy Switch Cooldown: 10 -> 15 ticks (50%)↑
- Item Cooldown: 40 -> 60 ticks (50%)↑
Explosion Core
The Explosion Core had long been an overlooked item, and with that, its excessive power was often forgotten as well. It was highly unbalanced and has now received a much-needed nerf, especially since it has become a Verdant Relict, making it significantly easier to craft than before.
- Max Item Count: 64 -> 4 (94%)↓
- Explosion Radius: 80 -> 16 (80%)↓
- TNT Count: 1000(💀) -> 40 (96%)↓
I apologize for this previous item. It has now been thoroughly adjusted and should feel far more balanced and fair to use.
Celestial Lighter
The Celestial class has finally been completed with the introduction of the Celestial Lighter. This new tool is an enhanced version of the Flint and Steel, featuring significantly higher durability and the signature Celestial particle effects. With this addition, the path is now open for the creation of an entirely new class in the future :)...
- Durability: 1465
Tool effects
This update also removes one of the core mechanics previously tied to the new tools: the Tool Effects system. Chromatic and Celestial tools no longer grant special passive effects such as Efficiency or Speed while being held.
- Tier 1 effects (Chromatic Tools) removed
- Tier 2 effects (Celestial Tools) removed
- Matching Tooltips removed
Advancements
Several advancements have been removed, added, or reworked within the Shiny category due to the removal of the Shiny Star. In addition, new advancements have been introduced to fit the changes in this update, as well as the previously added Crystal Relicts.
Crystal Advancements
- Shiny Items removed
- Wind Chime removed
- Verdant Shard Adv. added
- Hearth of Growth added
- Flamebound Relict added
- Veil of Dusk added
- Eternal Torch added
- Gale Scepter added
- Leap Feather added
- Woodland Carver description rework
Celestial Advancements
Added Celestial Lighter to:
- Tool Time again?!
- Tool Champ
Credits
The credits have been updated to reflect the transition from the Shiny Star to its successor crystals, along with the addition of several new items that align with the latest update.
/credits
- Shiny Star removed
- Shadow Shard added
- Woodland Carver added
- Eternal Torch added
/thankyouforplaying
- Player: Shiny Star -> Crimson Shard
- Enemy: Shiny Star -> Verdant Shard
Sturctures
With the removal of the Shiny Star, its corresponding structure, the Impact Crater, has also been removed. It remains uncertain whether this structure will return in the future, and if so, in what form. However, any potential reintroduction would be planned for the distant future.
Main Menu
In the main menu, the Celestial Theme now plays instead of the standard Minecraft soundtrack. The theme will dynamically change depending on the newest tool class or during special in-game events.
Crafting recipes
This update also introduces new crafting recipes for the recently added items. For Crystal Relicts, the only change is that the Shiny Star has been replaced with its respective Shard in all related recipes.

Crystal Relicts now feature a short tooltip description that explains their unique abilities.

Future
After a long wait, a new update for the mod has finally arrived — and of course, it is a big one after these two months! Time was a bit limited and motivation rather low, as I have been working intensively on a new project, which is still in development. More about that will be revealed later!
The next update will primarily focus on bringing the Advancement system to a completely new level. While this version already includes several related changes, the upcoming one will go much deeper, reworking the entire structure. The current master advancements, custom sounds, and other elements will be removed, shifting the system closer to the Vanilla mechanics.
I am also excited to announce that, just in time for Halloween at the end of the month (most likely with the update on October 24th), a small Halloween related event will take place. It will introduce new items, rewards, and perhaps even a new mob. Some of these features will only be available during the event, while others will become a permanent addition. More details will follow soon!
After this event, it will finally be time for a major update with everything that comes with it. The Celestial Class was released more than 112 days ago, which is much longer than initially planned when this system was introduced. However, this slower and more structured approach has proven to make much more sense and will continue to shape the update cycle in the future. The current plan targets November, though there is always a chance something else may be added beforehand.
I am personally very excited to see what the future will bring. Until then, enjoy all the new features <3
The biggest update yet brings fundamental changes, featuring 3D models, entities, shiny items, reworks, redesigns, and much more, with countless hours poured into it for the grand finale of the summer holidays, making this our most spectacular release to date.
Geckolib
Starting with this version, Chroma: Tools & Utilities now uses the Geckolib helper mod to implement the new entities, which means it must be installed as well from now on. However, this should be handled automatically when using the Modrinth Launcher.
3D models
With this update, 3D models are finally supported in the mod — a huge leap in quality compared to before. Current 3D models include the two new entities, the new shiny item, and a reworked shiny item.
Pets
The biggest highlight of this update is the introduction of pets — powerful companions that stand by your side and assist you in battles against enemies, bringing a range of exciting new mechanics to the game.
The two pets currently available can be crafted early in the game. Once placed in the world, they can be tamed with specific items, allowing them to fight alongside you. If you ever need a break, you can make them sit at any time or pick them up to release them elsewhere. Should they take damage, they can also be healed using certain items.
Pets

Zappie
Zappie is the first of the two new companions and serves as a close-combat fighter, overpowering any early-game enemy with its powerful attacks while charming players with its adorable animations. His favorite food is iron ingots, and he heals with iron nuggets.
- Health: 20
- Attack Damage (close-combat): 7
- Movement Speed: 0.6
- Knockback Resistance: 0.4
Sparky
Sparky is the second of the new companions, a ranged fighter with incredible reach who can strike any enemy before they even get close. His ranged damage and close-combat knockback are equally impressive, making him a formidable ally. His favorite food is gold ingots, and he heals with gold nuggets.
- Close-Combat:
- Health: 25
- Attack Damage: 0.1
- Movement Speed: 0.45
- Knockback Resistance: 0.6
- Attack Knockback: 2.0
- Ranged-Combat:
- Shot Interval: 4 seconds
- Shot Damage: 16
- Shot Range: 10 blocks
Items
Eternal Torch
The Eternal Torch is the newest shiny item, firing a beam of fire at the nearest enemy and dealing exponentially increasing damage the longer it remains locked on that single target. However, beware, if another enemy comes closer, the beam will switch to them, and the damage will reset.
- Radius: 20 blocks
- Base DPS: 3
- Max DPS: 48
- Growth per second: +35%
- Item Cooldown: 2 seconds
- Enemy switch Cooldown: 0.5 seconds
- Durability reduction score: 3
Woodland Carver rework
The Woodland Carver has been completely reworked and now features an entirely new function. First, you gather logs and leaves in forests with a simple right-click, collecting them within a large radius. Once you’ve accumulated enough “Chloroflux” energy, you can unleash a massive wave that transforms the surroundings into nature.
- Chloroflux capacity: 30.000
- Radius: 35
- Height: 10 (+/-)
Wind Chime
The Wind Chime has been slightly improved
- Wind Charge Blow Multiplier: 0.95 -> 1 (+5,26 %.)
Celestial Upgrade Smithing Template
- Tooltip: Chromatic Tools -> Chromatic Equipment
Entities
Several alpha versions of concept entities previously present in the game have now been completely removed and can no longer be summoned via /summon. Existing entities have also been renamed and now feature proper translations. In addition, the two new pets have been added as full entities.
- Zappie & Sparky added
- BlowEntity -> WindChimeCharge
- SpeedEntity -> FlightSpeedUpgradeSnowball
- BoomEntity & GoldorfeEntiy removed
- FireSparky added (Beta-Entity!!)
Sounds
All mod sounds have also been completely overhauled, now featuring proper names to make them much easier to find. Additionally, two new sounds have been added to the game.
- item.eternal_torch.shoot added
- entity.sparky.shoot added
Creative Tab rework
The creative tabs have also been completely reworked, with some tabs removed, reorganized, and added. The details are as follows:
- Chroma Stuff removed
- Shiny Equipment & Pets added
- Shiny Star, Woodland Carver, Explosion Core, Flight Speed Upgrade, Wind Chime -> Shiny Equipment
- Chromatic Ore, Deepslate Chromatic Ore, Chromatic Ingot, Chromatic Nugget, Chromatic Upgrade Smithing Template -> Chromatic Equipment
- Celestial Ore, Celestial Ingot, Celestial Scrap, Celestial Upgrade Smithing Template -> Celestial Equipment
Description
In the mod description (when using mods like ModMenu), links to the Modrinth page and the new bug/feedback tracker are now included.

Tech
In this version, an incredible amount has been changed on the technical side. While these improvements aren’t directly visible in-game, the mod’s internal structure has been significantly refined and optimized.
- Renamed all sounds, organized them by system, and added translations
- Added translations for entities
- Split ModTools into multiple individual classes
- Completely reorganized sounds.json
- Fully restructured lang.json according to a new system
Future
The next updates will definitely be smaller, as this pace unfortunately can’t be maintained. As the grand finale of the summer holidays, I wanted to show just how big an update can get. Planned next are improvements to the existing pets as well as many new ones with fresh mechanics and different uses. More importantly, the mechanics behind shiny items — especially how they are obtained — need a complete overhaul. The new credits screen also has to be fully and correctly implemented. That said, I’m not making any promises; if the past has taught me anything, it’s that I often end up doing something completely different in updates. But probably not this time. The next major update is still far, far away.
After the summer break, development is now continuing! The next minor update is coming and brings a few new features — mainly the new armor and the minigame credits. Version 1.21.8 is now supported as well!
Version 1.21.8 support
Since Minecraft has released version 1.21.8, it's now time for the mod to support this version as well. So feel free to test the mod in this new version!
Credits
Minigame-Credits
This update also introduces a brand-new credits screen. But it’s not just credits – it’s also a minigame! While watching the credits, you can play a rocket-style level where you have to dodge obstacles. The current goal is to reach the maximum difficulty level: Level MAX (14). The difficulty increases every 10 seconds.
Right now, ANY player can open the Minigame Credits without any requirements by simply using the command /thankyouforplaying. However, starting with the next update, this won’t be so easy anymore – so make sure to check out the new credits while you still can!
At the moment, there are no rewards for reaching certain scores... yet.
Minigame-Credits

Armor
New Armor: Celestial Armor
The Celestial Armor has finally arrived! It’s an improved version of the Chromatic Armor, so craft it quickly to ensure you’re fully protected! The details about the armor are coming up next:
Pieces:
- Celestial Helmet
- Celestial Chestplate
- Celestial Leggings
- Celestial Boots
Stats:
- Toughness: 4.0
- Knockback Resistance: 1.2
- Enchantability: 19
- Repair Ingredient: Celestial Ingot
- (Base Durability: 46)
- (Defense Map: Same as Vanilla)
Chromatic Armor
With this update, there are also some changes to Chromatic Armor:
Stats:
- Toughness: 4.0 -> 3.5 (-12.5%)
- Knockback Resistance: 1.2 -> 1.1 (-8.33%)
- Enchantability: 5 -> 17 (+240%) | Bug!
As you can see, the Celestial Armor replaces the Chromatic Armor in many aspects to maintain balance and avoid introducing an overpowered armor into the game.
Items
Wind Chime
Since the Wind Chime was nerfed too hard in the last update, its durability is now being increased.
- Wind Chime Durability: 80 -> 150 (+87.5%)
Advancements
This update also adds 2 new Celestial Advancements to go along with the new armor.
Celestial Advancements
- Armor Up again?! -> Craft any Celestial Armor piece
- Armor Champ -> Craft every Celestial Armor piece
Crafting recipes
Of course, there are also crafting recipes for the new armor.

Future plans
Now that the summer break is over, updates will continue as usual every 10 days (on the 4th, 14th, and 24th). The next major update is still far off, as already hinted at the last changelog. I’m currently super happy with the Celestial class. Right now, the mod simply doesn’t need anything big or new. Until then, you can expect small new features and improvements to existing ones!
But hey, even the minor updates have grown pretty big lately, so there should always be plenty of content to enjoy. See you next time!
This huge minor update introduces 2 major features for this mod. At first, Advancements are finally added to this mod as well a brand new Credits-Screen. Another change is the massive nerf to the recent Shiny Item, the Wind Chime. Get ready for one of the biggest updates ever!
Advancements
With this update, Advancements are finally added to this mod. Currently, there are 3 (actually 4) pages for different item groups.
At first, there are Chromatic and Celestial Advancemets. These are especially made for the new tools and armor added with the tier. They’re introducing a tutorial feature that guides you through the new functions. Currently, the Celestial Advancements are not finished yet, but they will be added with future updates.
Shiny Items also got their own Advancements. Every Item will give you an Advancement when crafed. My current plan is that every Shiny Item should also have a special Advancement. These will als be added in future updates.
When you complete an entire Tab, you will recive a "Master"-Advancement for that. If you completed all of the 3 "Master"-Advancements, you will get the final Advancement that says you that you finished the purpose of the mod.
All achievement also have custom sounds when reached! So it's never boring :)
Chromatic Advancements
- Chromatic Equipment
- Smell the Rainbow
- Upgrade Ready
- Armor Up!
- Armor Master
- I Believe I Can't Fly
- Tool Time
- Tool Master
- Dragon Slayer
- Blockbuster
- Mace to the Face
- Chromatic Master
Shiny Advancements
- Shiny Items
- Born to Shine
- Woodland Carver
- Wind Chime
- Explosion Core
- Flight Speed Upgrade
- Shiny Master
Celestial Advancements
- Celestial Equipment
- Smell the Stars
- Hidden in the Basement
- Tool Time again?!
- Tool Champ
- Celestial Master
Special Advancements
- MASTER OF EVERYTHING!!!
Credits
With this update, Credits are added to the game. They can be seen with /credits and when you have completed every Chroma-Mod Advancement. They're completely worth to watch because there are cool animations and stuff :)

Items
Wind Chime rework
The Wind Chime has been completely overhauled. It was way too strong for this mod, so the ability is now very different. The most distinctive point is that the speed of the wind charge has been reduced so much that the shot is no longer instant! The blow effect is also nerfed and a cooldown was added.
- Wind Charge Speed Multiplier: 100(instant!) -> 4 (-96%)
- Wind Charge Blow Multiplier: 2.0 -> 0.95 (-52.5%)
- Wind Chime Durability: 100 -> 80 (-20%)
- Wind Chime Cooldown: 0.0s -> 0.5s (/)
Tooltips
In this version, special items with effects when held now feature a custom tooltip that displays the effect and its strength.
Spoiler

Important Announcement
The next update will be skipped due to a well-deserved summer break! The following update will also be a bit smaller, since the summer break rudely stretches beyond that update’s timeframe too. BUT NO WORRIES! Development will continue as normal afterwards, so don’t panic. That said, the next major update will still take some time — not before September, and probably later. Have a lovely day and thanks for reading! <3
This small minor update introduces two new main features. The new Music Disc as well the craziest Shiny item ever created. Chroma: Tools & Utilities is now also in the version 1.21.7 of Minecraft avalabile. Have fun with this small content release.
Version 1.21.7 support
Finally, the new version of Minecraft 1.21.7 was relesed some days ago. If you want to update to the latest version of Minecraft, it is now easily possible with this update to the mod. So, the 1.21.5, 1.21.6 and 1.21.7 version of this mod are absolutely the same.
Items
New item: Wind Chime
The Wind Chime is the craziest Shiny item ever created! It blows a very very strong wind charge instantly at the position you are looking at. This makes it possible to easily hit every target you want, even if it is hundreds of blocks away. Beside that the knockback of the charge blows any entity an unbelievable amount of blocks into the sky. BUT this item won't intercept your fall damage you got from the charge.
The item also plays a completely unique sound when used. In summary, this item could be the most broken Shiny item ever released in this mod. I will definetly test it extensively and evaluate the strength. Maybe there will be some changes next update to keep this mod Vanilla+ friendly. Enjoy the strength while it lasts... ;|
New item: Celestial Music Disc (Remix)
The recent added music disc of Chroma: Tools & Utilities plays a remixed version of Celestial, the original track of this chapter. It's a bit longer with an changed structure and different instruments. If you don't like the first one, you should definetly try this one!
- This new music disc is in survival not obtainable right now, but it will definetly be fixed in the next update!!

Future plans
The next update will finally bring Achievements & Credits to this mod. I'm very proud to finally present this new feature, so stay tuned for it! More details & future expectation (especially with referance to the next major update & more) will come with this update :)
The first small minor update after the latest major update has arrived with some new content. In this changelog, you will learn about everything added in this version. This changelog will be again shorter like the latest was. This also happens to future changelogs.
Version 1.21.6 support
Finally, the new version of Minecraft 1.21.6 was relesed some weeks ago. If you want to update to the latest version of Minecraft, it is now easily possible with this update to the mod. So, the 1.21.5 and 1.21.6 version of the mod are absolutely the same.
Tools
New tool: Celestial Hoe
The Celestial Hoe is the latest tool added to the mod. It can be crafted like every other tool of the Celestial class. Compared to the Chromatic Hoe, it is a bit stronger in damage and durability.
Chromatic Hoe
There are small changes to the Chromatic Hoe, at first the attack damage was increased (3 -> 4) and the attack speed was also buffed (1.2 -> 1).
Items
New item: Flight Speed Upgrade
The latest Shiny Star Item is the Flight Speed Upgrade. It can be thrown like a snowball and if you hit a flying mob with it, it can increase its flight speed. An important note is that the item is primarily thought for the happy ghast, so it helps only in 1.21.6.

Bugs / Tech
- When you want to use an Explosion Core, but there's a block above you, it will fail and send you a message. This message has now been fixed, previously it was in German.
- The mod information was absolutely wrong when you used mod menu or something like that. Now it should be repaired.

Finally, the first major update has arrived! The Celestial Update brings a range of new content, including new mechanics, items, tools, materials, blocks, and a new structure featuring a small dungeon hidden in its basement! Download the latest version of Chroma Mod now :)
Additionally, there’s a change to the changelogs — from now on, they’ll be more condensed, simplified, and shorter.

They also give you again better stats and the effects Strengt II, Haste II, Invisibility II or Speed II when held in your main hand. Chromatic Tools
There are 2 nerfs for Chromatic Tools:

Future plans
With this update, a foundation has now been laid for future updates. My current plan is adding the missing tools, armor, special shiny star items, advancements and way more! Stay tuned for these wonderful features. All this stuff will release with many minor updates. The next major update will maybe take a litte longer this time, but we will see.
I really hope you like the new update :) Have a great day :D:D:D
This is the last minor update before the upcoming major content release — and it brings some fun and powerful new items to the game!
As previously announced in the last changelog, these items can now be crafted using the Shiny Star, making them incredibly strong. However, their power is well balanced by the rarity of the Shiny Star itself.
Enjoy the new additions — and stay tuned for the big update just around the corner!
New item: Woodland carver
The Woodland Carver is the first of two new items introduced in this update — and it’s all about fun! Its special ability lets you** turn almost any block** (except unbreakable or very tough ones) into wood. Anywhere, anytime, for any reason.
It’s a fun and chaotic tool that you’ll definitely want to try out at least once! The Woodland Carver also features the first animated item texture in the entire mod!
New item: Explosion Core
The Explosion Core is the second new item in this update — and it’s far more powerful, designed to reflect the true strength of the Shiny Star.
But don’t expect just another boring TNT block from a classic explosives mod. This item introduces a unique and exciting new mechanic: When used, it summons TNT from the sky, raining down over an 80-block radius — all with musical effects for extra flair!
Despite the chaos, the explosions only break surface-level terrain (like grass, dirt, or sand), meaning it can’t be abused for easy resource farming. The item is also well-balanced, so you won’t be able to spam it constantly.
Still, it's a spectacular experience you won’t want to miss!
Chromatic Mace – Finally here!
The Chromatic Mace is now fully complete and craftable in Survival mode! It was nearly ready in the last version, but now it’s fully usable. You can find the crafting recipe in the appropriate tab — it follows the same pattern as previous upgrades. Enjoy the final addition to the Chromatic item line!

This update also adds a few new crafting recipes. Check them out and see what new possibilities await!

Bugs / Tech
- The creative tab "Chroma Tools" has been renamed to "Chromatic Tools" — a first step toward the upcoming major update.
- The creative tab "Chroma Stuff" now features the Shiny Star as its icon.
This minor update brings a breath of fresh air to the mod! Not only does it finally introduce Chromatic Armor, but it also removes the entire level system — Level 1, 2, 3, and Shiny are gone.
How this works, why the change was made, and what’s planned for the future — you’ll find all the answers in this article.
Removal of Levels
Version 1.2.0 removes all equipment levels. That means: From now on, just like in Vanilla Minecraft, each tool type will only have one specific version.
-> How does the new system work?
Not much changes in terms of functionality. You now only have to upgrade a tool once — using the Chromatic Ingot (not the Nugget). All the stats, effects, and cosmetics from the former Shiny Level have been carried over to this new single upgrade.
-> Why was this change made?
The previous tiered system just didn’t feel like a natural fit for Minecraft — especially not for a Vanilla+ mod. Since Chroma Tools & Utilities is meant to stay true to that Vanilla+ philosophy, the tool system has now been adjusted to better reflect how things work in the base game.
-> Why now, right after the Shiny Update?
Mod updates aren't developed and then immediately released. Each update is completed and stored until it’s time for release. Unfortunately, in this case, the Shiny Update and the level removal update overlapped — a very unlucky coincidence. This kind of situation shouldn't happen again in the future.
-> What happens to my current tools?
Since all levels have been removed, the related tools will no longer exist. We recommend using commands to give yourself the new, level-less Chromatic Tools manually. If a similar change ever happens again, there will be an automatic replacement system for affected items.
-> What does the future look like?
This change may remove some content for now, but in return, future updates will come more frequently, and the planned major update is being pushed forward. There will always be something new to discover — and we strongly believe this change is a big step forward for the future of the mod.
-> What happens to the Shiny Star?
The Shiny Star will remain in the game, but it's currently not usable. However, it’s still worth collecting them — because very soon, new and exciting uses will be introduced! The current plan is to use them for crafting unique and powerful special items in future updates.
Chromatic Armor is here
At long last, the Chromatic armor set has been added — including Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots. This new armor is Vanilla+ friendly, well-balanced, and fits naturally into the game alongside existing gear.
It can do everything you’d expect from a standard Minecraft armor set. However, for now, it does not provide any cosmetic or special effects — at least not yet.
Crafting recipes
Each piece of Chromatic Armor is crafted the same way as the Chromatic Tools — using a netherite armor piece combined with a Chromatic Ingot and a Chromatic Upgrade Template.

Bugs / Tech
- A major code refactor was done to fully remove the level system from the mod. However, a few leftover assets and textures from the old system may still be hidden within the game files. These have no impact on gameplay and will be cleaned up in future versions.
- The bug preventing the Chromatic Ingot from being used as an Armor Trim material still hasn’t been fully resolved. For now, the temporary workaround remains in place: crafting the ingot through the crafting table (not via commands or creative menu) should allow it to function as intended.
- There are already preliminary implementations in the code for upcoming updates, including the next minor and even major update.
- Additional remnants of beta test items have been removed from the game.
The first minor update introduces a handful of new items, mechanics, and even a new structure. Behind the scenes, several technical improvements have been made, along with quality-of-life changes and various bug fixes to enhance the overall experience.
New item: Shiny Star
The Shiny Star is an extremely rare new item that can be found within the newly added structure. It allows you to upgrade your Level 3 Chromatic Tools even further — unlocking a new tier known as the Shiny Level. More details about these enhanced tools and the structure itself will be explained below.
Shiny Levels for Chromatic Tools
The Shiny Level for Chromatic Tools is achieved by upgrading a Level 3 Chromatic Tool using the Shiny Star mentioned above. In the previous version, Level 3 tools introduced custom visual effects during mining, attacking, and block interactions, as well as passive effects when held in hand.
With this update, those special effects have been moved to the Shiny Level, making Level 3 tools now focus purely on improved item stats. The Shiny Level now takes over the functional and visual enhancements, representing the true final form of Chromatic gear — both powerful and stunning.
Chromatic Tools
All Chromatic Tools also received adjusted durability values to better reflect the progression between levels and make each tier feel more distinct.
- Level 1: 2462 -> 2262 | -200
- Level 2: 2462 -> 2362 | -100
- Level 3: 2462 -> 2462 | -0
New structure: Impact Crater
The new structure is a remnant of a long-forgotten era — an ancient crater left behind by a meteor impact. It can be found extremely rarely in desert and badlands biomes.
At the heart of the crater lies a single Suspicious Sand block, hiding a mysterious treasure: the Shiny Star, an artifact from the meteor itself.

Bugs / Tech
- There is currently a known bug where the Chromatic Ingot often cannot be used as a trim material (1.21.5). This issue is being looked into and will be fixed in a future update. As a temporary workaround: if you craft the ingot manually in a crafting table, rather than obtaining it through commands or the creative inventory, it should work as intended.
- The levels of Chromatic Tools are now part of a completely separate tool class.
- Several beta test items have been completely removed from the game.
- There’s already a system running in the background that handles Shiny Level removal for future tool types. Exactly how it works will be explained in more detail when those new tools are released in future updates :D. No worries — nothing will be lost!!!
