Inspired by the cryptid legend, GoatMan adds a monster that reacts dynamically into your world, stalking silently until it's seen, then chasing, fighting, or fleeing depending on how the encounter unfolds.
(UPDATE 3.0) FEATURES:
Spoiler
BEHAVIOR
GoatMan randomly settles into one of four "rolls" in Cave Dweller fashion
- Stroll — wanders calmly, eats crops, attacks mobs, mimics nearby mob sounds
- Stare — stalks at the player from a distance, may break into chase or flee depending on interaction
- Chase — pursues the target with charge/pounce attacks
- Flee — runs away and disappears once out of sight
CREEP-STALK MODE
A new stealth mode at spawn (common in caves, rare on surface)
- Silently trails the player from behind
- Stops moving if the player can see it anywhere on screen, and only resumes creeping once it's out of sight
- Drops into its normal Stare, Chase, or Flee behavior once it gets close enough, or if the player looks directly at it
COMBAT SPECIAL ATTACKS
- Charge — fast directional charge; deals AOE damage, breaks through walls in its path, and has a "shield rush" variant that ignores range to punish a blocking player
- Leap — lunges at the target, arcs across gaps or up ledges, or (if directly overhead) jumps straight up; deals AOE damage and breaks blocks on landing/impact (can sometimes get stuck by its horns on a ceiling)
ABILITIES
- Can destroy and disable player shields: a Charge hit shatters the shield; a Leap hit puts the shield on a temporary cooldown instead, without breaking it
- Charge and Leap attacks inflict Nausea, Weakness, and Blindness on hit
- Breaks blocks on contact, charge, and leaping: slabs, walls, doors, trapdoors, fences/fence gates, signs, glass/glass panes/stained & tinted glass, and iron bars
- Drops broken blocks
- Strong knockback on attacks, and high knockback resistance
- Can swim
- climb walls
- Gets through 1-2 block gaps
TARGETS
- Hunts and kills nearby animals except wolves, iron golems, polar bears, pandas, bees, sniffers, turtles, or anything in water
- Destroys and eats a wide range of crops
- Actively avoids and flees from wolves, villagers, and iron golems
- Attacks isolated villagers, wandering traders, or wolves that have no protectors nearby
- Targets and engages players who get too close or who spot it directly
WEAKNESSES
- Flees from packs of wolves, villagers, and iron golems
- Blocking a Charge with a shield destroys the shield but stuns GoatMan for a few seconds; blocking a Leap only disables the shield temporarily without destroying it
- Will flee mid-chase if set on fire, hurt by another mob, or worn down below 50% HP with a smaller random chance to flee at any time
- Stops moving when spotted during Creep-Stalk, and won't close the distance during Stare if you keep eye contact
SPAWNING & PRESENCE
- Spawns near a targeted player, gated by light level, height, biome, dimension whitelist, and surface vs. cave conditions
- Can summon a herd of goats while hidden/stalking
- Independently spawns small goat groups near players as an ambient sign of GoatMan's territory
MUSIC, SOUND, & MIMICRY
- Screams when a chase begins
- Dedicated stalking music and chase music (can be turned off in config)
- Mimics the ambient sound of the last mob it killed (or a random nearby mob if it hasn't killed anything), sometimes "slipping" into an off-pitch sound
MISC
- Drops loot (goat horn, rotten flesh, bones, assorted crop seeds, golden apples, golden carrots, and enchanted golden apple)
- Config for almost any feature for charge, leap, creep-stalk, herds, omens, music, mimicry, spawn rates, break block, drop block, etc. to be turned on, off, or tweaked (Configured Highly Recommended)
REQUIRES: Geckolib
