IRLights BBS Addon
Real-time dynamic lighting for BBS FS.
It's made for Fabric 1.20.1-1.21.11. However, 1.20.1 build can be used on Forge and NeoForge (1.21.1) with Sinytra Connector mod
This addon adds real dynamic point lights and spotlights to BBS model blocks, actors, and film replays. It comes with real-time shadows, volumetric god-rays, and projected light patterns (gobo/cookie). Lights are placed the same way as any other BBS form, so it slots straight into your existing BBS workflow.
Note: lighting renders through the Iris shader pipeline. You'll need Iris installed and one of the supported shader packs enabled to actually see it in-game.
Features
- Point lights & spotlights. Place them on BBS model blocks, or attach them directly to actors and replays so they move and animate with the scene.
- Real-time shadows from both world blocks and entities. Shadows can be toggled per light, quality goes from Low to Ultra, and a cache only re-bakes when the scene actually changes.
- Volumetric lighting with configurable beam strength, density, and anisotropy (Henyey-Greenstein scattering), for god-rays through fog, smoke, and dust.
- Gobo / cookie projection. Project a black-and-white PNG pattern out of a spotlight's cone (window shadows, foliage dapple, projector effects, whatever shape you want) onto surfaces and through the volumetric beam. Fully keyframeable in the BBS film editor.
- Per-light control over color, intensity, range/radius, cone angle (inner/outer), bulb size (shadow softness), and independent block/entity light masking.
- In-world light guides: optional wireframe gizmos showing exactly where a light sits and how far it reaches while you edit.

Supported shader packs
The addon ships a source patcher that injects its lighting code directly into popular Iris shader packs:
- Photon
- Complementary Reimagined
- BSL
- Bliss
- Solas
- IterationRP
- Rethinking Voxels
Pick a pack in the in-game settings, patch it once, and lights start rendering with full shadow and volumetric support.
Requirements
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
- BBS FS 2.3.1 or newer (earlier versions are not supported)
- Iris Shaders plus a supported shader pack from the list above (you won't see any lighting without it)
Installing
- Install Fabric Loader, Fabric API, BBS FS (2.3.1+), and Iris.
- Drop the addon jar into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game once so it can extract its bundled shader patches.
- In the BBS settings menu, open the patcher panel, pick your shader pack, and patch it.
- Enable that shader pack in Iris, place a Point Light or Spotlight form on a model block (or an actor/replay), and your scene is lit.
