3.0.0
This update makes major changes to the modlist, pruning several problem mods and introducing many new mods. An entire tech mod has been replaced, two dimensions have been removed, a storage mod has been replaced, and big changes have been made to minecarts and redstone gadgets. This update will absolutely require creating a new world. I repeat: please do not try to play on 2.x.x worlds, as many of your items will most likely be deleted.
Removed mods:
- The Twilight Forest; the fabric port of this mod has been causing massive problems since day one, but couldn't be removed without seriously breaking players' worlds. This 3.0.0 update marks the final straw, where I simply couldn't continue updating the game while working around TF's limitations.
- Deeper and Darker; while cool in its own right, every "dimension" mod added to the game significantly increase the filesize of the world. With just Twilight Forest and Deeper and Darker together, the server world has already well surpassed 11 gigabytes and has started breaking our server backup tool. Because Deeper and Darker does not actually add that much content to the game in its current form, it was decided that it was not worth the additional strain on the server.
- Industrial Revolution; the current beta for Industrial Revolution has missing textures, crashes, and other big issues that make it difficult to use during normal gameplay. It just isn't very stable. It will be swapped with Tech Reborn for now.
- Expanded Storage; one of the many reasons that players will need to regenerate their worlds. This mod has serious issues, including the config file just... not changing anything when it's updated and outright causing a server crash on newer versions. It will need to be replaced with a new storage mod.
- Tinkerer's Smithing & nbtcrafting; I am very sad to see this mod go, but nbtcrafting has been causing extensive, persistent crashes for both servers and clients.
Added mods:
- Tech Reborn; with Industrial Revolution out of commission, Tech Reborn is the obvious pick. In hindsight, I should have made this change a long time ago, as many mods in EGGS use Tech Reborn's energy system.
- Iron Chests: Restocked; a replacement for Expanded Storage from the creator of Lil Wings and Spirit. Unfortunately, I don't believe that barrels are included.
- Cammie's Minecart Tweaks; while it was possible for players to chain minecarts together using Create and speed up Furnace Carts using Fabrication, the interactions between these systems was often strange and minecarts were much easier to use with vanilla mechanics. Cammie's Tweaks provide a much more reasonable speed boost, make Furnace Carts less of a pain to set up, and give alternate forms of cart chaining that are less "strict" than Create's. -Redstone Pen; after playtesting for some time, I found that vanilla redstone was still fundamental to the EGGS experience but was sorely lacking in utility compared to, say, Modern Industrialization's pipes. This mod should add some utility tools that make complex redstone circuits more compact and useful. I do not know if it's compatible with Alternate Current.
- TIS-3D & Markdown Manual; this delightful mod implements mechanics from the game TIS-100. I would recommend reading the documentation thoroughly in order to get a better idea of how to use the mod. It should help with optimizing redstone contraptions in a major way.
- Ultris: Boss Expansion; to compensate for The Twilight Forest no longer being in EGGS, Ultris has been added to provide some cool boss encounters without needing the player to expand their world into new dimensions.
- Simple Uncrafting Table & MCPitanLibarch; as an alternative to Twilight Forest's uncrafting table, this mod from the developer of Advanced Reborn will once again allow players to break items and blocks down into their component parts.
- HexBound; this was included in very early versions of EGGS, but was removed during routine mod pruning for being somewhat unstable. It has been updated, so I added it back in for convenience.
- LuckPerms; several mods in EGGS, such as BlossomLib, have permission-related commands that players can use. However, until now, there were very few ways to prevent players from using them, and so luckperms was added to give server owners stronger control over commands.
- Litematica, Litematica Server Paster, & MaLiLib; this is being added to provide an easy way for player houses to be transferred to the new server world. It also provides some fun schematic functionality for players on their own servers or in singleplayer.
- BlueMap; it was becoming a nuisance that servers could have an entire world pregenerated using chunky, but there was no way to provide a full and functional map over the overworld without manually flying out and "exploring" all of the chunks. BlueMap is the solution to this, but because it has additional port requirements on the server side, server owners will have to set it up themselves using BlueMap's own manual (https://bluemap.bluecolored.de/wiki/).
- More End Cities; in line with making the filesize of worlds much smaller, more end cities will spawn, disincentivizing players from exploring far out into the End to find elytras and other resources.
- Where Is It; without AE2, the functionality for players to find items in their storage has been lacking, and Where Is It allows them to find resources quickly and easily.
- Luna Slimes; a simple mod that makes slimes slightly more interesting and consistent.
Updated mods:
- Fabric Waystones -> 3.0.7
- Lithium -> 0.11.0
- Spirit -> 2.2.4
Changed config:
- Significantly updated the default controls.
- Waystones no longer generate in villages. This was done to reduce the amount of waypoint spam in Journeymap and cajole players into crafting their own waystones instead of just stealing them.
- Waystones can be used to travel out of the Nether or End, but cannot be used to travel there. This disincentivizes waystone spam even more and pushes players towards using each individual portal type to better access the respective dimensions.
- Removed some of chunky's cached settings so that fresh installations don't have "active tasks" or pre-determined world borders.
- Undid several Fabrication changes made to minecarts in response to adding Cammie's Minecart Tweaks, which add more polished versions of the same changes.
- Disabled BCLib's auto-update to prevent errors.
- Enabled Fabrication's "foliage creepers" that allow creepers to better blend in with biome environments.
- Disabled LambDynamicLight's Entities and BlockEntities functions to significantly improve FPS in cases where entities are capable of producing constant light engine updates. This should fix an issue where Hexal Wisps caused massive dropped frames on clients.
- Increased the delay on Leaves Be Gone to avoid lag when large trees are chopped down.
- Disabled Modern Industrialization's version check to prevent log spam.
- Manually disabled Modern Industrialization's salt ore generation, to prevent conflicts with Bewitchment.
- Disabled Puzzle's version check to prevent log spam.
- Disabled Resource Packs overriding the custom splash screen via Puzzle settings.
- Disabled Reacharound's vertical placement feature as Accurate Block Placement essentially re-implements it, causing a "double up" effect that makes placing blocks a goddamn nightmare.
- Through Sodium, disabled Large Smoke, Smoke, and Sparkle (Hex Crafting) particles by default because they were by far the largest source of lag spikes during normal gameplay.
- Improved the StarterKit inventory with very low-level enchanted tools (to encourage use of Tinkerer's Smithing) and a Spyglass so that new players can use Ok Zoomer.
- Disabled Modern Industrialization oregen for Bauxite, Iridium, Lead, and Tin to play more nicely with Tech Reborn. Left Tungsten as-is because TR Tungsten only generates in the End, breaking standard MI progression.
- For this same reason, both Tech Reborn and Bewitchery generate Silver ore. Silver ore in Bewitchery is quite common and very necessary for progression, whereas TR would make it much rarer.
- Removed the vestigial config file for Archon.
- Removed the vestigial config file for Xaero capes.
