You Read The Forbidden Tome, Now You Must Pay The Price.
The Forbidden Tome banished you to a hostile world underground, seemingly abandoned for aeons. What remains are the tormented spirits and ruins of a great and terrible sorcerer, driven mad from being imprisoned for eternity.
You must survive here, no matter the cost. Otherwise, you might meet the same fate as everyone else who dared to read the Forbidden Tome.
Hexxed is a Magic Modpack for Minecraft 1.19.2, built on Forge and around the Hex Casting and Malum Mods. The modpack aims to be a fresh, complete experience guided by the player's own creativity.
Hex Casting and its addons add a plethora of new ways to enjoy the game, but paired with the challenge of surviving a hostile subterranean environment, it will push the player to come up with creative ways to combat the hordes, build a safe base, and raid dungeons.
The pack includes custom world gen and tech/magic progression tree that intertwines mods like Hex Casting, Apotheosis, Malum, and much more via crafting recipes and rituals, using exploration as a key to the progression of the pack!
This modpack is heavily inspired by the classic 1.7.10 magic modpack: FTB Banished, by DrasticDemise. While not a 1:1 remake of it, I sought to "remaster" it for modern versions and re-imagine it using different mods and mechanics.
Known Bugs:

- Nether Stems don't have bloom
- Some Generated Resources via Every Compat have missing textures
- Spawner textures are Opaque
- Lava Vision Effect breaks Lava Shaders
- Totems need to be restarted after game restart
Guide/Wiki: There is no in-game quest book or guide book for the progression, this is intentional to fit the feel of early Minecraft and to encourage creativity when playing. However, there is a general progression you can follow when playing a run, plus some additional tips:
Spoiler
Low Magics
- Find Wood in either a Runewood Grove or Lush Cave
- Bones can be found by hunting Skeletons or breaking decrepit skeletons
- Make leather armor by curing Zombie Flesh with Salt to get leather
- Scavenge low-difficulty structures to possibly get Iron, Chainmail, or better
- Holy Sap regenerates health
- Torches burn out, try and make Ether!
- Build a base ASAP, and remember, you are never really safe
- Totem Rituals are like early-game Beacons
- Stay in the light
Beginner Magics
- Make an Arcane Workbench
- Having a Scythe is a must
- Use that Iron you found and make some Soul Stained Steel Tools
- Upgrade your Leather Armor to Soul Hunter Armor to get more Spirits
- Make some Hallowed Gold Trinkets to give yourself a bit more Armor
- Gorgoyles can defend your base for you (they might also be affected by Totem Magic)
- Journey on an adventure with your Wandering Chest, its like a backpack with legs!
- You probably can start raiding low-tier dungeons
- Repair your tools and Armor using Spirit Reforging
Intermediate Magics
- Use a certain Totem Rite to create Twisted Rock, or venture into Amethyst Caves if you dare
- Use Spirit Focusing to start creating materials like Iron, Diamond, and Amethyst
- Automate some tasks with a Straw Golem
- With your newly found Iron Factory, make some Soul Stained Steel Armor (its better than Diamond)
- Look into making Gateways, they might be more efficient and rewarding than mob farms
- In order to raid more difficult dungeons, enchanting and Socketing will probably need to be done
Advanced Magics
- Through Enchanting you should be able to socket your items and armor
- Even Enchanting is a study, find the best combination to get the desired results
- Perhaps more difficult Gateways will yield better rewards...
- Those ancient scrolls I found laying around the world, could they be of a different form of magic I haven't even discovered yet?
Void Magics
- This new form of magic is amazing! I can do anything given enough 'Media'!
- The fragments of the journal I found tell me of 3 Archons that control this realm: The Void Blossom, The Void Mage, and The Void Worm
- Maybe by defeating them I can find a way out of here...
